It'd certainly help if there were instructions. The manual doesn't go into any of this!
It's changed its mind again and isn't polling every 20 minutes any more. I give up and will consider remote record a no-go. I don't think it's a box fault, that's more of a software thing - knowing that it's Linux based and how much of a pain that is to work with, I'll blame that

Not weird at all, as long as they are on the same polarity/band it's perfectly possible.

How come you can't record 2 channels and watch a recording at the same time on a humax like you can on a sky box? Humax are supposed to be the best maker of freesat recorders...

Grouty has only got 1 cable connected, if it was a Sky box you could only record 1 channel at any one time and not be able to watch any others You can even record two channels and watch a third (with some restrictions) using only a single cable. (Handy if you can't get a second cable). Playback of recordings is always available however many recordings you have in progress (Playback does not need a tuner). |

![]() Try recording BBC1 HD and BBC 2 HD at the same time and watching Channel 4 HD at the same time. Ignore the bit about time shifting not being avallable (it is on freetime boxes) https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/what...-1-or-2-cables |

You can. Also unlike Sky you can also watch a 3rd live channel while recording two. You can even the record the 3rd channel from the beginning of the programme after one of the recordings completes. If both channels happen to be on the same transponder (eg BBC 1 HD and BBC 2 HD), then you can watch any other channel on the epg.

Humax Freesat boxes are a lot more reliable than the Sky boxes. Im on my second Humax freesat box. I kept the first one for nearly 5 years after cancelling Sky. The box was still working fine but I fancied upgrading to the White wifi box I think is a 1000S and never had a problem with either.. Some of the Sky boxes I used were made by Amstrad and I had a couple of those replaced by Sky in the 3 years I was with them. Saved a lot of money by cancelling Sky

I've had my HDR 1000S for a while now and I'm very pleased with the picture quality. Yes, the clicky remote is very tiresome, but other than that, all is fine except...
I'm sure when I bought the HDR the Freetime facility allowed me to see what what was available from the day before. But now Freetime jumps back a whole week; it won't let me see what was on yesterday. Have I missed something? Done my best to search this forum and elseshere but can't find mention of anyone having the same problem. Last edited by derekrumble : 08-12-2015 at 10:15. Reason: changed thread subscription, typos |

So it's just me then - wonder why? I'll do a factory reset perhaps. Hopefully won't lose my recordings.

Tried to do a factroy reset but many functions of the settings menu weren't displayed. Thought I'd better try a 'switch it off and switch it back on again' routine. Switched off the power, waited a bit, switched it back on.
Now all the settings options are available and Freetime works just as it should. No need now for a reset

late to the party
I finally decided to replace my old Foxsat HDR with an 1100s. It's a significant improvement in software and speed of the interface! I'm very pleased. It flies through the menus where the Foxsat plodded.
For some reason the white one is £20 cheaper in Currys at the moment and might even hide dust better. I have no issue with how it feels. Yes it's a bit creaky, but it's going to sit on the shelf and be left alone. I changed my Harmony One remote over to the new device so I have little comment on the 1100s remote. It was a bit clicky and unfamiliar but I prefer my Harmony to anything. I can live without the lcd display easily. My Raspberry Pi has no display panel and it's never been an issue. The colour LED on the 1100s seems to show the power and recording status and that's fine. It also responds to the remote a lot better than the old Foxsat, which I had to leave the front flap open on just to get the remote to work normally. The smaller size is fine. I used to like all my boxes to be 43cm wide and stacked them up with my amp and dvd player, but it's not essential. |

I've had my foxsat HDR for nearly 7 years and i've been very happy - especially with the extra functionality from Radon's brilliant software.
When this box eventually gives up on me I'd like to replace it with one that gives me the same functionality but as i understand it, custom firmware isn't possible with the 1100s so i'll be limited to whatever the box is capable of out of the packaging. I go into hospital a lot and download .ts files to my laptop to watch offline. Is there any way to achieve the same with the hdr 1100s? I also use the webif for setting up and managing recordings and the remote add-in for channel changing and volume. How much of this can be done with the free app? Finally, i see it has wifi for home networking but what does that actually allow you to do? At the moment it just looks like you can watch catchup tv on your pc via wifi and the box. Any advice gratefully received. |

No way to export content from the Freetime boxes. Only way would be to use a DVDR to record from the analogue outputs. You can view external content stored on other kit on a freetime box (It has a DLNA client but no server).
The app can be used as a wireless remote control. and the wifi is just used to stream to or from the box from other network sources? |

To the box only, If for instance you had the Custom Firmware on your Foxsat and one of the DLNA server packages you could watch any recordings that are not encrypted on the freetime box, but not vice versa.
You can add a usb external hard drive to the box and transfer recordings to it like you can with the foxsat hdr but am i right in thinking they are encrypted so I could put the external drive on my laptop and watch programmes? |

I checked this out a while back, on my HDR1000S, single input, recording one channel, watching / recording another, and made a list of all "compatible" channels, mostly BBC & ITV at the same time. Tonight there should have been a conflict between BBC HD News at Ten, and ITV HD Jericho, which had a 30 minute overlap at 10pm, both recorded OK. However, BBC HD News recorded was the BBC WALES HD version, just for tonight My list: OK CHANNELS BBC 1 BBC 2 BBC 3 BBC 4 ITV CHANNEL 4 E4 OR ITV CHANNEL 5 5 USA |

BBC 1 HD (England) and ITV HD are both low band vertical channels (LBV) and would be acessible at the same time with a single cable. BBC 1 HD Wales is Low band horizontal so to record another channel at the same time it would also have to be low band horizontal. All ITV and STV HD channels are low band vertical. 102 BBC Two HD 10847 V LBV 106 BBC Three HD 10847 V LBV 108 BBC One HD 10847 V LBV 600 CBBC HD 10847 V LBV 972 BBC One HD 10847 V LBV 978 BBC One NI HD 10847 V LBV 119 ITV1 HD 11097 V LBV 119 ITV1 London HD 11097 V LBV 119 ITV1 Granada HD 11097 V LBV 119 ITV Meridian South HD 11097 V LBV 119 ITV1 Central West HD 11097 V LBV 119 STV HD 11068 V LBV 973 BBC One ScotHD 11023 H LBH 976 BBC One Wal HD 11023 H LBH You can't make a simple list because what the second tuner can record is determined by the channel tuner 1 is using. Assuming you have BBC 1 HD England, any of the following channels will be recordable. ((assuming of course the channel is on your epg where it's a postcode selectable one) 121 Channel 4 + 1 122 E4 123 E4 + 1 124 More4 975 Channel 4 + 1 103 ITV 113 ITV2 117 ITV4 118 ITVBe 155 ITV4+1 602 CITV 977 ITV London 103 ITV London 103 ITV Granada 103 ITV Anglia East 103 ITV Central West 101 BBC One W Mid 201 BBC Parliament 703 BBC Radio 3 704 BBC Radio 4 FM 707 BBC 6Music 708 BBC Radio 4 Ex 710 BBC Radio 4 LW 711 BBC World Sv 712 BBC R Scotland 713 BBC RnGaidheal 714 BBC R Wales 715 BBC R Cymru 716 BBC R Ulster 717 BBCRadioFoyle 952 BBC One E Mid 953 BBC One East E 963 BBC One W Mid 964 BBC One Wales 967 BBC One Yk&Li 971 BBC Two Wales 147 BBC Three 212 BBC NEWS 607 CBBC 957 BBC One NI 958 BBC One Oxford 961 BBC One South 962 BBC One S West 969 BBC Two NI 102 BBC Two HD 106 BBC Three HD 108 BBC One HD 600 CBBC HD 972 BBC One HD 978 BBC One NI HD 115 ITV3 116 ITV3+1 731 talkSPORT 112 STV East + 1 103 STV North 103 STV Central West 103 STV Central East 112 ITV Granada + 1 103 ITV Channel TV 119 STV HD 119 ITV1 HD 119 ITV1 London HD 119 ITV1 Granada HD 119 ITV Meridian South HD 119 ITV1 Central West HD 126 Channel 4 HD 127 4seven 206 RT HD 209 NHK WORLD HD 503 B4U Music 692 Revelation 694 GOD Channel 142 True Ent 153 True Drama 302 True Christmas 303 True Movies 2 500 Chart Show TV 501 The Vault 502 Dancember 504 Starz TV 603 POP 605 Tiny Pop 604 Kix 606 Kix +1 609 Tiny Pop +1 120 S4C Digidol 134 CBS Drama 213 CHANNELS24 870 BABESTATION 693 ISLAM CHANNEL 695 Sonlife TV 809 TJC 135 CBS Reality 149 Food Network 151 Food Network+1 161 YourTV 205 France 24 208 Bloomberg TV 156 more>movies 210 CNBC 806 JML Direct 693 ISLAM CHANNEL 695 Sonlife TV 809 TJC 815 Thane 411 Fashion One 724 Absolute 726 Absolute 80s 729 JazzFM 790 TWR 511 VIVA |

You can use a freetime box as a media player, both over your network or using it's usb ports. You can also upload this content to the internal hard disk. It goes to a seperate partition from the encrypted recording one. It's not encrypted and you could if you wish export again to another usb drive. You cannot copy the recordings the box made natively to anything else.
