There has been rumours that Brain's contract ends at Hollyoaks in May 2016 and Stuart Blackburn's contract ends with Corrie in July 2016, so Brian is going to shadow Blackburn for a couple of months at Corrie and take over his role. Nothing has been said about Blackburn.

Do you think BK will do well on Corrie? He could certainly liven it up as I've heard people post here its been dull of late.

I hope this is a joke - for all our sakes. Have they run out of Series/Executive Producers in soaps. They just seem to carousel between them.

By the sound of it, only someone who wants to destroy Corrie would take Berkwood on!

Half the cast turning gay.

Everyone having affairs with everyone else.

Not just triangles, but squares.

WHAT?! Blackburn's contracts is not ending until July 2016? So we have another year of his rubbish

I would like a fresh producer, not one who has done another soap in the last 5-10 years, feels like we're going round and round on bloody merry go round.

They need to recruit someone from within the ranks who has fresh ideas. Kate Oates might not be perfect on Emmerdale but she's wiping the floor with the 2 mentioned above!

This thread is a lie...

Number one;

Stuart Blackburn started in January 2013 so his contract will be renewed every January NOT July.

Number two;

ITV are dull but not that dull to employ Kirkwood.

Why is this idea even being entertained?

Bryan Kirkwood should not be producing ANY television programmes. He massacred EastEnders for a while and his current run on Hollyoaks has turned it into a laughing stock.

I wouldn't let this egotistical clown direct a panto.

I'd rather Blackurn stayed on than Birkwood ever join

I'm sure they wouldn't anyway, not unless they wanted the show to die a painful death

I doubt this is true, I'd bet money that Kate Oates takes over Corrie when Blackburn leave.

I for one would welcome that. She's great on Emmerdale - keeping the show's heart, community and humour but having the right dose and balance of sensational and emotional drama (the siege/flood etc).

If it means Sean and the other pointless characters get killed off in a brutal stunt then I'm all for it.

Heres one for you

All the charcters we loathe (Sean, Callum, Michelle, etc) are all in the Rovers one night when a beer mat randomly flies off the bar at 100 MPH and decapitates the lot of em, and leaving everyone we love completly unscathed

thats right up Birkwoods Alley

Neither of them should be anywhere near the soaps.

I would have agreed with you till she started the Ross/Debbie stuff, but other than that she has been great.... One thing though when and if she does take over Corrie you can expect a weekly trip to Weatherfield General.

Yes because it would such a fabulous idea for Birkwood to come along and ruin yet another soap
people moan corrie is ruined already, birkwood would just hammer the final nails into the coffin

Emmerdale has been the best soap this year without a doubt.

Though i will be annoyed if Val gets killed off

Given how terrible CS is at the moment I actually don't think it could survive the idiot Kirkwood getting involved with it...
