Your response explains perfectly why this story still has a reason to be told. For viewers to still believe things like this are based on physical attraction and sexual desire shows how much awareness is needed.
I also agree that Cleo is having doubts but is playing a dangerous game in order to keep her Mum happy. She thinks she can handle Pete but I doubt that will be the case.
Pete is a master of manipulation. He flips from being intimidatingly sinister to generous and loving.
I know Karl Collins has his knockers but I tell you what I appreciate is an actor who throws himself into the role and isn't a robot reading lines. Actors in soap struggle to show emotion in even the saddest times like funerals. For him to get himself so worked up for those scenes was impressive. Even Duayne Boachie is beginning to show some depth. That family has so many emotional scenes they must be drained by the end of the day.
In contrast I find Parry Glasspool and James Fletcher disappointingly dull to watch.
