CS Roy & Cathy

Don't know about anyone else but Cathy is just starting to grow on me a little bit!! She's a bit strange, a bit eccentric & for a start you didn't know how to take her...remind you of anyone?
How brilliant is David Neilson as Roy playing this s/l though!! He obviously likes Cathy as a friend, is happy to help her with the allotment & clearing her house, but as soon as it's about anything he shared with Hayley, like the driving test & their beloved 'Woody' you can just feel the sense of guilt he feels at sharing these things with another woman!!

Sign of a brilliant actor, one who can make the viewer feel the emotions they are conveying into their character!!

I was never a fan of Hayley and was quite happy when she left and Roy's relationship with Carla is far to sweet and sugary it just leaves me cold...but his new found friendship with Cathy is spot on...David Neilson is a brilliant actor and at last he has someone of the same standard to work along side him...long may this relationship last..

I thought that Cathy and the allotment story with Roy would be a refreshing interlude in the more serious storylines. But Cathy now just annoys me, and she looks unwholesome. Her personal hygiene must be compromised in that pit of a house of hers; she probably can't even get into the bathroom. Time to wrap it up and give Roy a better story. .

Didn't like Cathy at first, thought that she was a real miserable character and would drag Roy down, but she has started to grow on me a little bit, beginning to show a few different sides to her character. I still don't think she's right for Roy to get involved with romantically.

I love the character of Roy and I think his friendships with Carla and (although their less popular on here) Fiz and Tyrone are great. I think he and Hayley were good together but I think he also works well as an individual character in the cafe with the connections in the street he has.

I think Cathy is alright and played by a good actress. However I hope they don't go down the route of her and Roy in a relationship as I think Roy works well as he is.

Hoarding is a mental illness, so being annoyed at Cathy isn't exactly fair.

I absolutely agree!! It's far too soon to even think of any form of romantic attatchment for Roy!! He & Hayley were not just husband & wife, but real soulmates & that doesn't come along too often in life, in fact you are lucky if it ever does!! Roy as a character would find it incredibly difficult to even think of committing himself to anyone other than Hayley!!

I don't think the Cathy character will last long, because Melanie Hill isn't a soap actress.

She's a stage, TV and radio actress. I'll give her a year - two years at the most and she'll be gone. Moved on to a stage play or something.

The fact Melanie Hill is playing her helps, but like Gusto Brunt says, don't expect her to stay.

The thing about Roy is that whoever he plays opposite at once that scene is more interesting he brings the best out in everyone he acts with, that is how good is, , having said that l loved him with Hayley and Becky and even Mary.

I hope she does stick around.

Although Roy was a loner before Hayley, his relationship with her should have changed him.

Before Hayley, he was probably too scared to give his heart to someone and probably thought he could get through his life without doing so.

Now he knows what it's like to love someone and be loved back, I can see him wanting to feel that way again and be more willing to take a risk to get it.

There were only two times when I really liked Becky as a character, when she was at her lowest & most vulnerable and her scenes with Roy & Hayley, often the two things went together!! The rest of the time I found her very very irritating!!

i also think Cathy is improving. she has shown some generosity, supportiveness and wit in the last few episodes. and some genuine hurt when carla had a go.

originally she just seemed to be tiresome and needy and you wondered why anyone would bother with her, but now she has a nicer side which is good to see. had enough of loons with dark secrets tbh, would be good if she was just a good egg.

Yes, cooler, that is very sad; but it isn't entertaining, more a subject for a documentary.

I think I'm in a minority because I would have liked Roy and Mary to be an item.

I think they are both fantastic and would have been highly amusing to watch.

Sorry, not a fan of the miserable boot and the way she shuffles out of every scene when she starts to feel awkward.

Almost every hoarder has had a major loss in their lives which sparks off the hoarding.

Well said!

Of course we've got the toot falls on Cathy and she's trapped under all that rubbish

Which promises to be as hilarious as John Waters 'Female Trouble' when they are discussing Dawn Davenports 'cha cha' shoes and the Christmas tree falls on her parents...

No, not a fan of Cathy at all. She just gets on my nerves.

Roy's got a real catch in that Cath woman. The sex must be phenomenal.

Melanie Hill is a good actress and I usually like her characters but Cathy is still annoying me.
