I saw it in his eyes in the final scene tonight - he has lost hope, he looks defeated. My heart breaks really, even when Phil wholloped him one he didn't even retaliate, he was worried for his b***h of a daughter.

I agree. I felt so sorry for Max. He's lost his job and home and is now facing prison for a crime he didn't commit.

He didn't actually confess to the murder though did he? He is just a serious suspect now that his alibi has gone out the window and 2 people saw him with Lucy that night. I would consider that enough to arrest him, especially since he went to the police himself.
I like Jake Wood the actor, and think he's one of the best on the show, but cannot feel sorry for the whore master that is Max Branning even if he is innocent sorry
While i do like Max, I do not feel sorry for him. He simply treats people like crap. Especially women. His prison sentence might be for being falsely accused of murdering Lucy, but it's really a prison sentence of his attitude and behaviour.
