To get back on topic though, no I really doubt Robert is leaving Emmerdale. He was probably just brought back for a year originally, with this one particular story arc, but he's been really popular. So they'll find a way to keep him, somehow. Ryan might not want to stay too long if he starts getting other offers, but he seems to be enjoying himself right now, so I'd be amazed if he couldn't be persuaded to stay at least another year. I hope they find him something good to do.

Robert just worked for Lawrence's agric. machinery firm as a rep. then Lawrence said he'd make him a director of Home Farm - I don't think that's finalised yet and probably now won't ever be.
He has nothing to do with Chrissie's hairdressing chain apart from stealing/spending her money.

After ladt weeks efforts anyone who thinks Ryan Hawley will be getting better offers than being in a soap cannot know much about acting. In those dreadful hammy scenes with Aaron and Paddy he completely failed to deliver what he was supposed to be conveying.
He'd be laughed out of town acting as woodenly as that if he was put alongside half decent actors in a proper drama. At this moment in time no producer for a quality drama would touch him with a barge pole. People really do think being a popular and watchable soap character means they are good actors even when it is shown they are clearly not good actors. When required to stop playing the panto villian and deliver some proper sensitive emotion he failed to step up to the plate.

Because lots of people watched Emmerdale before this strange twitter obsession and they will still be watching after Robert is gone, even if the fickle twitter audience, who are obsessed with watching gay men hurt each other emotionally and physically, are gone.

I hope Hawley isn't leaving; his character of Robert has been the best yet. There's good mileage in having him scheme and plot and turn the tables...

He has worked before Emmerdale you know! And he'll work after. I've never said he's the best actor in the world - you can see he's learning as he goes along, and not everything comes off. I thought he was really stiff when he first arrived! But he has got better and given us some very watchable scenes. I find them watchable, anyway. Just as long as they don't involve Aaron doing his crying thing.

I agree and whilst I like naughty Robert he has been some what stretched playing him like that so I think a toned down Robert would suit us all.

Maybe they could centre on his sexuality more and perhaps his inability to accept that he is bisexual could be part of what makes him kick off and be controlling. Didn't Aaron kind of allude to this when he told Robert how angry he had been when he was afraid of coming out.

Maybe he is a bit better at doing the scheming (smirky smirky) stuff, and the paranoid panicky stuff, than the emotional stuff, which is why I prefer watching him scheme and panic. Though his scene with Andy was really good last night. And I liked him when Chrissie first threw him out (over the Lawrence kidnap), and he just went round being pissed and pathetic, which was hilarious.

I do enjoy watching him most of the time, but to be honest, it doesn't bother me when he leaves. I'll enjoy him while he's there and when he's gone, something else will come along. If he's going to spend the next year holding handies with Prince Aaron, I won't really care any more anyway, they just give me the irrits.

They'd be bonkers to let him go and I'm sure they won't unless he wants to leave. He's just too entertaining! His scene with Lawrence next Friday looks a cracker

Good post. Yes, it's been a decent and watchable sl, but EvilNuRobert clearly always had a limited shelf life and I'd be disappointed if he didn't get his comeuppance before too much longer.
