I've just bought a new phone, its my first smart phone, a nokia Lumia 830.

It does have the white shopping bag symbol already installed but when I try to find the app I want, I can't, claims there is no such app.

I can access the app on my laptop but won't let me install as it states You haven't accessed the Google Play Store app (the white shopping bag icon) on your device with this email account.

My mobile is set up using google/gmail so where am I going wrong?

Sorry if any of the above sounds dumb but I haven't used a smart phone before or used any apps.

The problem here is that your phone cannot use apps from Google Play.

Your phone uses Windows Phone, which means you have to use the Windows app store.

The Google Play app store is for devices that run Google's Android software.

The website for the Windows Phone store is here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/stor.../windows-phone

If you have not done so already, you'll need to create a Microsoft Account to use the Windows app store. Details here: https://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/h...rosoft-account

As the app you're looking for isn't coming up when you search on the phone it sounds like it isn't available for Windows devices, but there's probably a similar alternative if you have a look on the Windows store.

I thought they were the same thing, silly me. Does this mean I'll not be able to access Google Play Apps on my phone?

I have my Microsoft account set up on the phone already.

Correct. Google play is the store for the Android operating system, so won't work on a Windows phone.

As Roush says you need to use the Windows mobile store. It should be pre-installed on your phone I would have thought.

A lot of the apps made for Android are made for Windows Phone though, so all is not lost.
