The actress is great and deserves a better role. Shirley is a badly written mess of a character.

Linda Henry is one of the reasons why Shirley divides viewers. It shows why she is a great actress. Shirley is so watchable and I do love her strong attitude. I'm glad her and Phil are over for good now because I hated how Phil made her look weak and pathetic. Shirley is in an equal relationship with Buster and I hope we see more of them together. Dean needs to leave the show so we can see more of Shirley and Buster alone. Buster is a really popular character in social media so I hope they have big plans for him.

I agree about Shirley and Buster. I like that they share an equal relationship and it does seem to be reciprocated on both sides. I also like Shirley and Denise. Shirley is a fascinating character and I enjoy watching her, TPTB just need to be more consistent with her and the writing for her.
Linda is a wonderful actress and just need the correct storylines to really blossom again. Despite all her faults I like Shirley - she is a multi-faceted human being not a cardboard cutout. As for her and Buster are people seriously suggesting they would prefer her with the Philth? As soon as any female character comes within his orbit (no matter how strong) they almost instantly becomes an abused victim and a doormat. No thanks - Buster actually loves her and they make an excellent couple. |

I've always said that I love Shirley as a character, but I'd hate to have her as a friend or a relative. I think Shirley is actually written quite consistently, but she's so flaky that it seems like she's all over the place.
Take her unending support of Dean when Linda's rape became public. Shirley had fought to have Mick back in her life and was aching to be a mother to him when boom! She turns on him and Linda and throws all of her support at Dean. While that seems very inconsistent, it's actually very characteristic of Shirley. She has long thought that of her children, Dean was most affected by her abandonment (which is probably true). Her guilt over what Dean did to Linda made her feel awful for her shortcomings as a mother, so she overcompensated by immediately taking his side and leaving her relationship with the more stable, less needy Mick to sour. Linda Henry also hits it out of the park with Shirley. She can stick around as long as she likes in my opinion. |

I love Shirley she is probably my fav female character, she has so many sides to her she is great to watch, I think she is written really well she is messed up after everything that has happened in her life, Linda Henry plays her amazingly well I doubt I would like her so much if she wasn't playing the part.
