On a 'scale', the overall 'cast-o-meter' is probably right in the middle between 'perfect' and 'rubbish'.

So many disgusting, bitter, desperate, pathetic, depressing, horrid characters. The cast (by which I mean characters) is just awful. It's broken my scale and flew off the 'rubbish' end.

Least Fave Male: Jason, Ste. Jason because the actor is terrible and the character is uninteresting and always has issues. Ste because he is overused.
Least Fave Female: Diane and Lindsey. Both are complete bitches.

Eastenders

Fave Male - it's kinda sad but there are so few male characters that I really like right now on if - there are some ones I like but none I'd say are my fave. Maybe Tamwar, Mick, Martin, Kush or Buster. Idk...

Least fave male - (not counting Dean the rapist because that's a given, obviously) Ben. He just irritates me and I know he's messed up, but he's just so, so spineless and stupid. Best thing that could happen to him is breaking him away from the Mitchells and making him grow up. Still holding out hope that he'll be the one to oust Phil one day.

Fave female. Unlike the men there is a few who could win this for me - it's a really strong female cast right now. I'm voting Linda - she's played by an excellent actress but the character has depth, warmth and humour and she's great to watch - and feels real.

Least fave - either Sonia or Kim. Both are awful, selfish loudmouths who just drag down any and all characters who have to share scenes with them.

Favourite female - Ronnie Mitchell - Samantha Womack just proves how good she is by making the rubbish shes been given lately even remotely interesting and still makes Ronnie one of the best characters in soap.

Shabnam Masood would be a close second, shes really come into her own the last year and i hope it continues.

Favourite Male - Kush Kazemi - and currently thats only at a push and whenever hes no where near Stacey.

Least favourite female - Stacey Branning - i've always hated her but i'd mellowed on her until she reverted back to the screechy, moody two faced mare she used to be.

Runners up would be Claudette Hubbard and Shirley Carter.

Least favourite Male - Charlie Cotton - i loved him and Ronnie together but his fling with and subsequent declaration of love for Roxy has driven my opinion of him so far down i'm glad to be getting rid of him.

Coronation Street

Favourite female - Maria Connor - Samia Ghadie is so underused and underrated yet for me shes still one of the highlights of the show. I'll miss her when she goes on maternity leave.

I still love Sarah Platt as well, i just think shes used more as a plot device to keep Bethany in the show rather than as the brilliant character she used to be.

Favourite Male - Tim Metcalfe or Luke Britton - Tim is hilarious and decent and has really developed into a great character; Luke has proven to be a charming and decent lad and i hope him and Maria stick together for the long haul rather than it being another failed relationship they can add to her long list. I hope both get some bigger and better storylines in the future instead of just comedy and filler material.

Least favourite female - Eileen Grimshaw - shes a nasty woman and i'm sick of her getting away with being so cruel to Gail whenever the mood takes her because shes 'so funny' with it. The feud is beyond dull now.

Least favourite male - Andy Carver - the climax to his storyline was rubbish, we still don't really have any proper explanation as to why he did it and him and Steph parade around spouting advice to everyone like a couple of know it alls. Very annoying.

Emmerdale

Favourite female - Val Pollard or Diane Sugden - i'm going to miss Val so much when she leaves, for me shes the funniest soap character and so shameless with it. Love her. Diane is just as brilliant and i loved their sister act.

Honourable mentions to Cary Hope and even Tracey Shankley who i never thought i'd like.

Favourite male - Dan Spencer or Pete Barton - not the most exciting of characters but (like Tim and Luke in Corrie) both extremely decent, nice men which in shows full of back stabbing and cheating is really refreshing.

Least favourite female - Brenda Walker or Rachel Breckle - normally its Chas or Lisa but Brenda and Rachel are driving me insane lately. Both always miserable, whining and playing the victim and horrible to their partners so i can't muster up any sympathy for them when someone actually does them wrong.

Least favourite male - Jai Sharma or Robert Sugden - when did Jai become such a detestable tyrant with no humanity whatsoever? I'm sure he hasn't always been like this. And i don't hate Robert but he killed Katie (which is unforgivable) and he's just everywhere at the minute, theres no escaping him.

Hollyoaks

Favourite female - Holly Cunningham - another underrated and underused character with bags of potential. She still feels like a blank slate and thats quite exciting but the writers just don't seem to have any long term plans for the character at all. Maybe with the way some characters have been butchered lately its a blessing in disguise.

Favourite male - Dirk Savage or Trevor Royale - normally Jason would be top of my list but the Cindy thing has really put me off him lately. I still hold out hope for a Jason and Holly wedding/future but it looks less and less likely everyday. Dirk again proves that being a gentle, loyal, caring man in a soap full of personality changing nutjobs makes him unique and brilliant. Trevor i've always liked, strangely though what seems to have made him popular (his family unit with Grace and Dylan) has put me off him a little, i prefered him as a lone wolf.

Least favourite female - Cindy Cunningham or Esther Bloom - Cindy's comical bi-polar has been insulting to watch and her pursuit of Jason is beyond creepy yet no ones noticed her acting even slighly oddly? I cringe whenever she comes on. Esther is just annoying, always has been to me, always will be.

Corrie:

Fave female - Leanne, have loved her character development from over the years, teenage tearaway to her downfall into prostitution and then a loving mum (not that Simon deserves it!), her marriage with Peter and various relationships. Jane Danson has added so many layers Leanne. Close contender is Kylie as she's another character I have loved watching develop and her strong personality.

Least Fave - Fizz, everything about her makes my skin crawl, past her sell by date for years. Carla is a close contender too, overrated and been used to death over the past couple years.

Fave Male - Steve, love his sense of humour and how he can see the funny side to everything. Plus have loved watching all of Steve's marriages of the years, especially his marriage with Karen. I love NotGavin too!

Least fave - Not a popular opinion but Roy, such a depressing and boring character and is just generally annoying.
