I was thinking of changing the points system to what the bookies odds are on that game. So if Bournemouth were 12/1 to win one nil at Chelsea you'd get 12 points. If they were say 4/1 just to win away, you'd get 4 points, and so on. Would probably get too complicated that way though, even if it was fairer on great forecasts like this one.

I like what dtcdtcdtc does in the cricket comps where if you are the only correct predictor, the points are doubled

I do like that idea...the only trouble we have with any variations to the scoring system is that it renders the 'historical' data we produce at the end of the system technically inaccurate. Unless all the previous seasons were combed over and revised for any similar such predictions in yesteryear, which is obviously quite an onerous task!

I can adjust the scoring easily enough to double the points if there is only one player getting it correct. Without trying to make things too complicated, what is the feeling about under what circumstances the points get doubled: should it only be applied when a single player has gone for the outcome (such as with anap yesterday) or should it apply whenever there is only one player in a scoring category (such as today's match where both players would qualify for double points as the only players to get 5 points or 2 points - or in yesterday's Man United 0-0 draw where only LostFool got it spot on, but 9 others also went for a draw).

So far this season there have been 24 out of 150 matches where only one player has gone for a particular outcome and anap's Bournemouth tip was the 8th time there has been a single points scorer from a match (3 of those players got their prediction spot on, with the other 5 just getting 2 points). There have been 15 matches this season where a single player has gone the result spot on (12 of those matches saw other players get the correct outcome).

Over the past 10 years, there have been 126 matches (out of 3570) where only a single player has scored points (89 times the player only got the outcome right and 37 times they got the result spot on).

^ I think one player per scoring category seems reasonable mate. Maybe we'll introduce the rule next season eh 👍🏻
