Could you keep Ian, Jane, Cindy and Peter's secret? I certainly could not. Family loyalty is one thing, but a secret like that is something else. I wouldn't keep Bobby in bubblewrap like Ian and Jane have; because I think he knows a lot more than he is letting on.

No I couldn't. I'm surprised Ian hasn't lashed out at the murderous little runt yet.

I agree.

The guilt would totally cripple me.

No l don't think l could. If it all comes out bobby will get all the help he needs councillor's doctors social workers etc, but Jane will be in serious trouble, she is an adult and she tried to hide a crime actually going so far as to bury a body, frame someone else and repeatedly lie to the police. She deserves to go to prison as soon as possible in my opinion.

No way! I know Cindy has a heart and even Ian is showing great signs of guilt. The way Jane is just letting other people suffer for her cover up is grotesque.

I agree with all of you, grief is bad enough on its own without guilt.

I think I could. But then, the alternative is to tell the truth, and become the next person Bobby introduces to his music box, and Jane drags into a ditch and stages the mugging of instead of taking to a hospital. No thank you.

I think actually I could.

I don't have children of my own, but I love my sister's kids like my own and I'd kill to protect them without a second thought.

Keeping a secret to protect one of them is a given.

Letting someone else take the rap would make me feel guilty but if I saw it as him or "my" kid? No problems whatsoever.

Unless you are actually in a situation like that, I don't think you really know what you would do. Shock and family loyalty can do funny things to people, and then if you make an initial misjudgment then things can easily snowball, that's how I see the Beales situation, and frankly I'm glad not to have to make those kind of decisions. I don't have kids but I did help my closest friend bring up her two boys when she ended an abusive relationship, and I love them like a father would and would protect them in most situations, so I don't know what I would do but it would be hard to see one of them suffer.

If you bump Scrabbler off and dump him on the common at our Inaugural Denny Rickman Appreciation Society Meeting I don't think I could cover for you Aaron, lovely though you are.
