When two people are having an argument and one storms off and the other just calls their name feebly but doesn't go after them. Particularly as it's usually gobby teen flouncing off and useless parent being exasperated.

Person gets pregnant the first time they have sex.
Yes it happens in real life and actions have consequences but yeah, so predictable. How about a big old sti instead

Someone trying to conceal a pregnancy always leaves the test at the top of the bin

When at the end of the episode all the characters just stare at eachother gormless and open mouthed for 10 seconds.

telling someone a secret when hidden round the corner listening is the biggest stirrer/bitch in the programme

When someone wants to tell another character something important and announces this and the other person keeps interrupting with superficial stupidity so the actual conversation never takes place (very Alfie moon who cannot shut his awful gob)

whenever an affair is revealed another person, usually family or friend who tried to break it up and knew for ages, will say "I thought you were done/you told me you ended in/said it was over" then the person who was being cheated on, or another person will say "You knew?" It's soap law.

Having a private and tense conversation in the corner shop.

Going "down the local" even though you shagged/assaulted the barmaid/manager's significant other and expect to be served like any other punter while gurning across the bar at them.

Something always seems to go wrong at funerals. Arguments, shouting, throwing someone out, shifty looks etc. Why can't a funeral go right once in a while?

Same applies to weddings actually. Something always comes up.

Announcing you are the happiest you have ever been is a cert bad times are in the horizon...... and the person they say it to knows it.

Sean Tully.

On a more serious note, when a character talks to their partner or family about making a "fresh start".

"... or I swear" They don't even finish off the threat. Liz said it to Tony last week in corrie and it was so bad, nothing about that conversation seemed natural.

Whenever a soap disaster happens and the emergency services are held up by something.

Most of the characters cheat on someone at least once.
Purple.

Next to no seriously long-term couples, who don't cheat/split up regularly etc.

Births and weddings are never straightforward.

Sleep with someone you shouldn't = guaranteed to get pregnant.

Nobody ever having a job outside of the street/village. Or friends outside the street/village.
