Not sure whether to lay Wales and take a small profit now, or hold on to see if they can do Portugal... Would lay them then before the final....

Oh, look, Iceland get one back.
Couldn't you have done that in the first half?! I only did BTTS first half, not in 90 minutes. |

I rather stupidly punted the money on over 6.5 goals next so I was rather happy Iceland grabbed another one late on. Not a monster win, but not bad for a £5 to mess around with

Sorry but it seems a bit odd to me too. Why have an outcome where you win nothing? I went both teams to score in the first half and got £225 profit. If it had lost I'd have still got £5 profit. Better than nothing.
(I would never ever place as much as £50 on a sporting event, so i really enjoy using the offer as a way of putting £50 on one bet then ensuring i cant lose. Just twice in last 2 years or so this has paid me quite well, and one of these was a 8/1 shot). |

Erm...... because that's how betting works!!!
As I said, it's an offer that guarantees profit, but, to use your own words, you "created a risk free bet on one scenario" that returned no profit. What I don't quite get is that on this particular scenario you appeared to be aiming for an £87 profit. Quote:
..if Belgium had won by 2 or more goals i was £87 up (and for various reasons £87 is good money to me at the mo).
It's would have still been a "good sized win" under the circumstances, but if £87 is "good money" for you, I would have just thought that £15 would have also been worth it as well rather than absolutely nothing at all. i get it's personal choice, but, as I said, it's just a weird choice to make under the circumstances. Quote:
33 quid in free bets for me tonight 25 from paddy power , 5 from Stan James from griezman goal and 3 from sky for France winning

Wel done all you winners
![]() Missed out on the French spectacular ![]() Working out best way to proceed as I have a very lob-sided book of bets If Germany win - Return of £380 If France win Return of £295 (+ a possible £90 depending on win lives' administration) If Wales win- nothing If Portugal win - nothing Leaning on the side of leaving it till the final to hedge.... |

My Griezmann top scorer and Germany to win is still looking OK after last night. Good for Griezmann to get a couple of assists too as if there's joint top scorers it goes down to assists. Quote:
Erm...... because that's how betting works!!! If someone gave you £10 free to bet with on one sporting event would you put £5 on both scenarios (eg, say a tennis match and both players were 5/6 to win) or just stick your whole free tenner on the one player who you thought would win? Because in effect you prefer the former and i prefer the latter option with this Bet365 free bet offer. Making money in every scenario is not what draws people to betting, strangely enough. So I can understand our difference of opinion, but implying i've lost the plot for removing the loss element of a £50 pre-match bet when its just a difference of opinion!
(I would never ever place as much as £50 on a sporting event, so i really enjoy using the offer as a way of putting £50 on one bet then ensuring i cant lose. Just twice in last 2 years or so this has paid me quite well, and one of these was a 8/1 shot). |

But a random, unknown, gambling footballing Nostradamus walks among us, ladies and gents - someone who put an early season bet on Leicester and Wales to produce magic this season. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-ze...cester-8343716Back in October 2015, someone (who probably "just had a feeling") nonchalantly strolled into a Ladbrokes shop in east London and placed a £2 double on the following: Leicester City to finish in the top four at 50/1 Wales to win Euro 2016 at 50/1 It would be quite incredible if it comes off. |

As I pointed out, you could have bet on Belgium to qualify pre-match for a £15 pound profit or Wales in-play to qualify for a £75 profit - only £12 less than the sum you seemed to be aiming for. i get it's personal choice, but, as I said, it's just a weird choice to make under the circumstances. DS football threads are strange. I had the temerity to suggest Hoddle is not a good option for Eng manager and got hammered by someone, even though my post was polite and contained good reasons for my view. And now here i've had the misfortune to suggest i didn't think Wales had a hope so i was trying to make the payout as big as possible if Belgium won well. And because Belgium were odds-on favourites the profit was always going to be comparatively small. I certainly didn't come on here to say my way was right, just thought id put it out there as people do on these threads. So please can we agree to differ, especially as i never even suggested your method is anything but a good one. And as this is a betting thread, for future Bet365 offers how should i go about maximising the profit on the favourite when im confident in them. This time Belgium were 1.87 the win, the draw around 3.5. and Wales about 6.0? Any suggestions to my strategy so i get as big a cash win as possible if Belgium win, whilst a small amount if they dont? |

Why would i ignore your reply? Anyone would've thought we're not all here together against the bookies!
Anyway, I think your reasoning is slightly clearer now as you appear to be applying actual football logic to these no-lose bets. It's not about backing the favourite in particular, it's about working out the best combination of pre-match and in-play bets to secure a decent profit. Some people like to essentially "go big or go home" with either a massive profit or a tiny profit. Personally, I prefer placing the bets to ensure a decent profit whatever happens, and the bet I mentioned that would have got you either £15 or £75 would have been perfect for me, had i had the money to do it. All i've ever said is that i think your approach is weird, that's all. If you're happy to walk away with zero profit then that's absolutely fine. I just find it strange that you, or anyone, would want to do that when this particular bet guarantees you at least something rather than nothing. |

Where is everyone? Surely you lot are going to lump on Wales tonight? I have a feeling Portugal will scrap a draw but even then Wales are 7/4 to qualify outright. Mind you, I am the guy that laid this: Quote:
I'm thinking the quarters will be my last chance to overturn the losses I've sufferred so far. So I'm aiming to do bets based around this £2 lucky fifteen: Poland Belgium Italy France v Iceland draw (we've all seen what Iceland can do and France are late starters so I don't think the sons can win but they could easily draw)

I really think Wales will get through this one.
£20 for them to win in 90 Mins 16/5 (4.2) then £20 for them to Qualify 7/4 (2.75) and if Ronaldo decides to finally turn up in this tournament, I'll just have to tell myself I'm still playing with house money. |

I thought about it and went £20 on them to win in 90 as well. Qualify is the better bet, but might as well go hard or go home. Not going to lie though, if Wales take the lead I'll probably cash out straight away
![]() PS Forgot that I'm on Ronnie to be top scorer from the start of the tournament and Nani and Quaresma recently as well so I may have a betting back up too if the Guesers finally get going.... |

Quiet night on here did the paddy power bet on Portugal so another tenner of free bets too.
Bad feeling like Iceland the other day it would be one game too far, so them winning made it a bit more bearable |

2-1 to Germany tonight would be ideal with Griezmann scoring to put him on 5. That should be enough for the Golden Boot and then hopefully Germany will beat Portugal in the final. Not just for my Germany to win and Griezmann golden boot bet but also so I get to see Ronaldo crying like a baby.

I have griezman as top scorer too I think one more goal from him should be enough.
Just thinking the day after the euros probably should open a new thread and call it an imaginative title like football betting 2016/17 season

Probably game over for the top scorer as well been a good night again for me thanks to France .
France as the paddy power single , a tenner in bets from paddy power , Tenner from Stan James , three from sky bet , just need Germany to get one back as I have France and both to score |

Well, that sucks. All I needed was a Germany goal. Would be better if they won, of course, but I'd have settled for a goal.
Hope Portugal win now.
