McBeale faked Kathys death because she knew that one day Bob would hunt her down and try and make her behave with his music box, just like he did his own mother and sister. It was for the best. McBeale always does the right thing. Even if that means staging a robbery and dumping a corpse instead of calling an ambulance, then having sex with the corpses father in the spot you dragged it from.

I have a mental image now of Jane trying to smuggle Kathy stuffed into a suitcase onto a British Airways flight to Capetown!
