I was going to say it's a bowie reference. I'm pretty sure they confirmred it. Especially as they seem to like to play with the names like that (the doctor who assistants -take that twins, freddie (Mercury) etc...)

Yep. Spot on. All the Roscoe's are musically named, although I forgot who Joe's named after.

David 'Ziggy' (David Bowie / Ziggy Stardust)
Robbie (Williams) and Jason (Orange) - Take That
As for the Lomaxes, they're named after Doctor Who assistants and the ages of them follows the chronological order their Doctor Who namesakes appeared in the show.
Leela - 1977 - 1978 (4th Doctor)
Tegan (Jovanka) 1981 - 1984 (4th/5th/6th Doctors)
Peri (Brown) 1984 - 1986 (5th/6th Doctors)
Rose (Tyler) 2005 - 2013 (9th/10th Doctors)

Ziggy Greaves in Grange Hill was fascinated by spiders. I think he said it in his first or second episode, hence Ziggy (Stardust and the spiders from Mars)

I think it is to do with David Bowie whose alter ego was Ziggy Stardust.

Did she? I didn't think it had ever been mentioned. I just worked it out, though I confess I didn't get the Take That! reference. I don't know if this is the explanation for Joe, but David Bowie's son, Zowie Bowie, changed his name to Joe.

I can't recall when or the exact context but I'm certain she did.
Oh god, maybe that was an attempt at foreshadowing; Ziggy's really Joe's dad, despite being younger than him. It is Hollyoaks...
