Victoria and Adam doesn't work for me either, but from the opposite perspective. I personally think Victoria is very attractive, and a nice person to go with it. Adam, on the other hand, is an ignorant, arrogant, aggressive, jailbird loser part time farm hand and scrap man.
Really? |

You know it's strange but Adam and Victoria have began to grow on me ever since she ran over Ashley. It's weird because usually I just can't click with soap couples where one has cheated but these seem to be exception and what a silly thing to say! She's a natural beauty, just not quite obvious with it because they don't plaster her with make-up or dress her with a short skirt, A lot of the time she's in her chefs uniform which doesn't do her any favours!
I quite like Cain and Moira, they're the ultimate odd couple but they work and work well. I hope they don't put him back with Charity when she returns. I'm surprised the dreaded 'Maurel' hasn't already been mentioned. They seem to be really disliked on this board. Admittedly I prefered her with Ashley but I can take them or leave them. I don't think Shabnam or Kush from EE work together or Stacey or Martin or Stacey/Kush either. It all just seems too forced, like they're trying to make Martin into another Bradley or something. Phil and Sharon - Admittedly it may be my inner-Shannis fangirl saying this but it seems all they do is go through the same cycle when Sharon tells Phil to stop with his dodgy deals but he doesn't listen. He then crosses the line and does something unforgivable, she declares revenge and makes a plan but then backs out at the last minute, forgives him and goes back to being the good little gangsters moll. It's infuriating. I agree about Steve and Michelle from Corrie. People forget he was only too quick to dump her the first time when Becky came along. They have no chemistry and it feels they only put them together because they where both single and similar age. Any Hollyoaks couple - I mean that, there is not one couple on the show at the moment that suit each other and EVERY couple no matter their age or personality goes through the same cliche-ridden rubbish. Ridiculous |

Really? I only really watch ED, and there aren't many couples that work right now, because they focus more on plot than building relationships. Ones that don't, blimey, where to start? Debbie and Ross - totally utterly do my nut in. Zero chemistry, don't care what happens, making me hate Ross, MAKE IT STOP Jai and Megan, Jai and Leyla, Jai and anyone except a meat mincer Vanessa and Kirin the Oldest Teenager In the World Robert and Aaron - also do my nut in, don't care, sick of the tears and ooooo dramarama. Robert only really gets a hard-on for power, bless him. So basically, all the ones that have been plot-crunched for the sake of the disaster. In fact the only one I quite like at the moment is the early wooing between Lawrence and Bernice. I should say that somehow, in spite of not giving a monkey's about any of the above, I still quite enjoy Emmerdale. But it would be so much better if some of the relationships had a bit more spark - write Cain/Moira better, give Chrissie/Ross a chance, or Ross/Carly (which actually worked), find Leyla someone decent, Vanessa was good with Pete, give Finn a damn boyfriend that he doesn't run in disgust from, and make Aaron take a vow of chastity and take up yoga.

As for the couples that don't work on soaps (for reasons other than looks) I'd say : ED Cain and Moira ED Debbie and Pete ED Chas and James HO Patrick and Theresa (now there's an odd "couple"!) EE Phil and Sharon (what a miserable pair!) CS Michelle and Steve |

And I'm another one who thinks Victoria Sugden is very attractive - she's got massive eyes, beautiful skin, and a lovely shaped mouth. |

Emmerdale: Ross and Debbie. Woeful. Just the world's most chemistry-free love affair which is strange because I saw the actors interviewed together and off screen there's a spark. I'm tempted to say Adam and Vic because she could do far better than that waste of space.
Neighbours: Amber and anyone. Horrendous character that drags everyone down with her. |

Love your post and agree with all you say ...all apart that is from Cain and Moira..for me there is just no chemistry between them and I tend to find their scenes together pretty boring...John was Moira's perfect husband and no one can replace him...not even the magnificent Cain..

I like your post, and agree with most of it (I only really watch Emmerdale too) but I actually quite like Vanessa and Kirin ... yes they're an odd pairing, but I think they seem to have a lot more chemistry than many of the other more conventional couples - and I think Pete is so 'meh' that I can't even remember her ever getting with him.

I too only watch ED, and this post pretty much says it all - particularly the last line...

Another vote from me for Steve and Michelle. Despite the fact that they've softened Michelle's character in recent months and she's more likeable, I still don't buy her and Steve together.
