Even at that price it's got lots of features the iPad lacks, like micro SD card slot to expand the storage (and great if you drop your tablet and it smashes. You just remove the SD card and you have all your documents), user accounts, so you can let your kids use it without being able to read your emails etc, proper multitasking etc.
You can even plug in an external monitor into the HDMI out and a wireless keyboard and mouse into the USB and run it as a dual monitor PC, again something no iPad can do.”

The Linx 10 is an excellent tablet but not a good comparison when comparing to an iPad. It's got a slow processor and a low res screen.

Bit late this now....but... I second all the posters that say Surface 3, Excellent kit, my son has an Ipad Air, I get the distinct impression that will soon end up on ebay and a new surface not far away ! Like a tablet onit's own, but attach the nifty keyboarda nd there's your laptop

Based on OP's requirements, a mid range tablet would most likely be adequate, It's horses for courses.

Probably too late now anyway.

It's also well under half the price of the cheapest 10 inch iPad and will run all Windows programs, as well as having twice the memory, a USB socket, micro SD card slot to expand the memory and, if we're talking about replacing a laptop, the ability to plug in a standard keyboard and mouse and use it with a proper PC UI. You can even plug in an external monitor and make it a dual display PC, something no iPad can do.

As for processor speed, I've never had any problems. I can play two different HD movies side by side at the same time with no problem. And it doesn't blur the screen when resizing the windows like the iPad does, now that it has finally got the ability to run two apps side by side.

What I find typical is all the people who say things like it is slow etc., who have obviously never used one. Sure its never going to be a gaming machine -but for general run of the mill use eg emails, internet, netflix etc, these tablets are fine.

I have a fairly decent laptop, but I use my Linx 8 about 80-90% of the time for armchair convenience. When I want power eg video rendering I use the laptop (which itself cost at least 30% less than an a good ipad).

One major plus for me is that you can take easily take total remote control of tablet using teamviewer so you can provide support even on other side of world. (you can do with some android tablets as well eg samsung, but lag is very noticeable).

I have an iPad and a laptop.

The iPad sits on the side most of the time wasting away.
