Exactly my feelings. The scriptwriters wasted the opportunity for some good scenes imo. Having Michael move out of Eileen's was a complete waste of time and consequently made no sense whatsoever.

Again, exactly right. Andy told Michael he'd been a better dad than his own had been...why on earth aren't they doing something with this instead of having this ridiculous love triangle with Michael, Gail and Eileen - or at least, as well as.
As it is, they've dropped the potential for some emotional drama, with a pretty unrealistic storyline - Michael might be angry with Gail, but he had been totally in love with her and if they want him to be any kind of decent person, he wouldn't be another relationship this quickly.
