Emmerdale Tours - Coming Soon??
Until now the only people who get to walk around the Harewood Estate set and the Leeds studios have been members of the fan club once a year.
Now it appears that plans have been submitted to allow weekly tours to the backlot. Hopefully they will be considered as I think it will be lovely to walk around the village. I know you can use the bridlepaths and treking routes through the estate to get close but getting into the set itself would be amazing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-33704675 |

Can understand the objections considering the history of the show before they build the current set but they will only be allowing two coachloads so very small numbers compared to something like the Corrie tours which have thousands a week.
I'm sure the date of the set is wrong in the article though as they have it as 1998 but I thought it was built in late 1993 and the first episode filmed there was the Christmas one that year |

The Emmerdale air crash was 1993 and it was done at the old village and that village stopped being used in late 1997.

I hope it goes ahead tho |

Emmerdale does have the best scenery out of the big three, so it is a shame if the tours do not happen for one Summer only.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-33725058 The 'backlash' from locals seems ridiculous to me. Harewood House has all sorts of big events taking place nearly all the time. Game fairs, antiques fairs, car rallies and all kinds of other things. It's already a busy place, so I can't see what damage a couple of coach loads of people coming to see the Emmerdale set could do. I am also baffled because the Emmerdale set is nestled quite comfortably in the middle of the Harewood Estate with little else surrounding it. The nearest dwelling appears to be an activity centre just north of Eccup reservoir. |

It says in the article that the tours will run from August 2nd until October.
So they start at the weekend?? Surely not! |

Just wonder if this will generate enough money for them to get the much missed webcams back online again
