Samsung had high hopes for the Galaxy S6 by making it more like an iPhone. However they have been unable to keep the premium price tag due to disappointing sales.

It would need to start with a 3 before I would even consider it. ...

£350 and i'll take one otherwise may as well go for the budget Android options which are high spec, low prices.

I think their main downfall was non expandable memory and lack of removable battery.

Still a very high spec phone for the price.

That's why the s5 is a better option.

At current prices, yes. But a S6 at 350, or better yet somewhere nearer 300 would make those two flaws a lot easier to overlook. Even more so if the 64gb model came in anywhere even remotely close to that...

i had the s2 and s3 but the range since then just havnt been sufficiently different enough for me to warrant getting them. If i never had one of the previous ones then id be happy getting the s6.

But how genuine is that phone? It's always the risk with eBay.

Wouldn't even consider it with the lack of expandable memory, no so bothered about the battery as there are things you can do to work around this such as charging packs. Also not sure it's so much of a Samsung problem but the android software now on lollipop seems just too big in size, require too much ram to run smoothly and even then seems slow and drains batteries compared to IOS in my opinion..
Still love it's flexibility but it needs tidying up somewhat.

Completely genuine, they are sourced from places in Europe, so they come with a european charger but they are the same G920F model as sold in the UK, the setup menu will show German or whatever language right at the first step so you simply choose English and continue on and it's exactly the same. (FYI: I have one)

With Samsungs it's extremely easy to flash a different firmware too, so you can go ahead and flash the EE firmware and get wifi calling working instantly, without voiding warranty too as the firmware is signed by Samsung.

If they wanna drop the prices any lower, the S6 will be the cheapest flagship of all time.

That's interesting to know. Makes you wonder if they can afford to mark it down? The cost of phone to make can't leave that much in the margins.

I thought the margins for smartphones were pretty large. Not sure about Samsung, but I think the iPhone 6 costs about $200 to manufacture, so they're tripling their money.

This article gives a figure of 290 dollars for the edge which is about 190 pounds.

I think the main downfall is the capacity of the battery. I'm sick of Apple and now Samsung who would rather make ridicously thin devices instead of making a device that will last throughout the entire day with a decent battery.

I had S6 and it works great. I guess the deal breaker was that there was no option for SD card

I know (that's what I've got).

Always been a Samsung fan (apart from TouchWiz) but will be looking elsewhere if they continue with no expandable memory or the 128gb model at a decent price (less than £550).

Seems like this might (hopfully) be a wake up call for Samsung. Make them stop believing they are the apple of the android market and can do what they want to there consumers, to embark on what they've done they really needed a phone with some cutting edge unique features to make people buy what ever.. But that's not the case so if people don't like, they buy something else or hold on to the perfectly good phone they have.

If they went for a reasonable price that conveyed excellent value for money, they would get mass sales and massive volume.

That would return probably bigger profits than now and hit apple much harder.

Interestingly enough that is pretty much where they are placed in the television market. Decent enough products at a mid range price- above Alba and Bush and the supermarket brands but below Sony and Panasonic and well below the high end brands like Bang and Olufson.

iPhones are overrated but I can see why many fork out for them

When it goes wrong like many phones do after a while...just go to the apple store and they will give you a new one then and there..albeit refurbished.
When my S5 was broken I waited 3 weeks till it was returned and I am still having slight problems.

They do very well in that market as well. Loads of people like Samsung TVs and I guess many would have the s6 if it was £350 for example. Just think of the units they would shift.

I've been a fan of samsung for a few generations (S2/3/4) but getting fed up with bloatware, slow android updates , erratic battery life... and the latest lack of removeable battery & price hikes just add to that.. next phone? probably a mid range handset (300) or even a switch to apple (unified updates, simple life)

Big problem at moment is obviously android fragmentation and fact that honestly most people couldn't care less about CPU or Ram who aren't spec nerds. Look at Apple iPhones specs are much lower in terms of CPU and RAM but far better optimised. Samsung basically stuck a new CPU and tried make it look like a iPhone this year. Not saying it's completely Samsung fault where as last generation Apple introduced Apple Pay larger screen size etc throw in the better customer support with iPhone and you couldn't go wrong,

While im not a fan of Apples locked down ecosystem if the average consumer were to look at the S6 and compare it with an iPhone 6 you would go with the iPhone due to much better support. Samsung have shot themselves in the foot. There is now very little to differentiate between a Galaxy S6 and and iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are actually very polished phones. For the first time I can say they managed to hit the mark with them.
