I think the deal breaker was no SD card slot, not the price. People don't mind price if they get what they want. It was a step back from S5 for them. Lowering the price may change that reasoning for some. BTW Lumia 1520 and other Nokia devices show that you can have both unibody and SD slot. So maybe they would have to make the phone a bit thicker. But they are bloody Samsung, not Apple.

Here's a quiz:

Name one notable function (that a normal person would use) that Galaxy 6 has that the Galaxy 4 didn't?

I think the better question is ask one notable function that the S6 has that the S4 didn't have hardly anything has changed apart from size of screen/cpu/ram increases.

The only desirable feature is the fingerprint scanner and you have that on the S5 which is in many ways a much better phone.

True I suppose it does and it might play a bigger part when Samsungs Payment system comes out.

In the UK Samsung will cut the price of the Galaxy S6 by £60. It will now retail for £499 instead of £559. Doubt it will tempt many more customers mind. The price of the Edge version will remain the same.

The fingerprint scanner is much better on the S6. I'm looking for an android phone to use alongside my iPhone 6 plus. I'm trying really hard to justify the S6 but I can't. It will be a secondary phone so I'm not willing to spend the necessary to get 128GB or even 64GB. Yes it has a faster processor which is 64 bit and a better camera. I've never been on the more RAM brigade so the fact that it has 3GB RAM doesn't interest me. The design is better but I think I'd rather have the removable battery and micro SD card slot, plus the water proofing. By all accounts the battery life on the S6/edge is terrible.

Well that is a p*** poor effort BT Samsung. Hardly going to shift extra units with that discount.

I have the Edge 128gb in White.....battery life is mediocre, it isn't bad by iPhone standards. I have just come from a Note 4 so my perception maybe a bit warped. The device is fantastic and lovely to hole, the only problem with the Edge seemngly if I cup it with one hand the "edge" of the screen would regiater a touch input. I don't think its worth spending the amounts suggested for a secondary device, moto x and moto g are about to launch soon, they are cheaper and also suit as a secondary device. I have several phones, but they are not all flagship level like the S6, but they serve difference purposes.

My advice to anyone considering these handsets, look elsewhere first, there have been plenty annoincements and launches which piss all over S6/Edge. LG G4 to name but one, Oppo is launching a new handset as is Oneplus (Two), Motorola is once again throwing its cap into the ring in a big way. My point is there are better cheaper alternatives (rich coming from me).

First thing they need to start doing is stop making multiple models, was there really a need for a regular 6 and a Edge? Why not just make Edge the flagship and be done with it and stop confusing average buyers and splitting sales. I see they are doing it again with the Note. A £60 discount is simply not enough to tempt someone they really need to slash it by £100 at the very least.

The Moto X Style is looking mighty tempting.

Bigger screen? (which my S4 owning friends call a disadvantage)
Fingerprint sensor that works? (The one on the S5 is a swipe and pretty horrible, and the S5 sensor is _not_ secure)

For the technical types:
S6 has much faster 4G/LTE support and I think faster WiFi.

Higher resolution display.
Vastly improved camera plus editing software
Faster processor
More RAM

High resolution display is nice but not essential from the S4 which is very nice anyway.
Faster CPU is only important if you're often waiting.
RAM is also good if you're waiting.

However the better display, faster CPU and more RAM also mean less battery life :-/

If they got rid of all the TW crap and go with stock android there would be no waiting. When I had my S5 It amazed me for a phone with that spec how crappy it ran. My old Moto G with stock android was quicker.

£60 discount hardly worth the effort.

The truth is the mobile phone market is quite saturated at the high end, but few people are prepared to upgrade for relatively small gain at a high price.

Price reduction will gave to be significant eg at least 30% to kick start sales, targeting next tier of phone users.

Of course the poor S6 sales are bad news for those of us who hope to pick up one second hand when the s7 comes out...

Giff gaff have now reduced both the M9 and the LG G4 to £399. The S6 looks over priced once again.

The battery in my iPhone 5S has started to go. Even left in the charger, it seems to reach a peak of 90%. After a few hours, the charge drops to below 50% and that's with no use. The battery usage area in the settings shows no rogue battery drain.

So I've switched to using the Galaxy S5. Not only can I replace that battery easily if needed, I have a spare battery for travelling with more than double the capacity.

I don't think I would ever buy a phone with a sealed-in battery again.

LG could have a real USP over Samsung, Apple and HTC if they decide to keep the replaceable battery for the G5.

Out of interest, let it run out completely and turn off. Then charge it until it is full (overnight for example) and see if that makes any difference.
