His lack of interest in Lexie was astonishing .

Ben adored Lexi when she was a baby. We even know that Lola used to take her to visit him in prison. It never made sense that he didn't want to know her when he was released. Some scenes with his daughter would have made him more human, but instead we have a lame love triangle. I think TPTB wanted to lose Ben's soft side.

They shouldn't have axed Lola because there would have been some great scenes with Lola and Kathy. Kathy would want Ben to be involved in Lexi's life. It was a shame Ben never really wanted to know Lexi.

It's really correcting a mess left by a previous EP. Ben should never have been Lexi's father it was a complete dead-end from the get go and you suspect no more thought was put into it than deciding what type of hat the names should be pulled from.

I don't see why DTC thought it was a bad decision in making Ben a dad though. We know he loves a good baby plot and Ben is a Mitchell so having Phil's first grandchild is a big deal, it seemed like it was more to do with Lola than Lexi.

Let another EP tackle it, who can do it justice. They can pass it off as he pulled away from wanting contact with Lexi rather than risk turning out to be a terrible dad, like Phil is.

The fact that he could spawn a child and have absolutely no interest in her is worrying, and says a lot about Ben's character!

Or he knows he's too screwed up to be a positive influence on the kid and Lexi's better off far far away from him .

That would work. They need to have shown it to us in some way though, just having no mention of any of it is dismal writing.
