HO - Nods to the past

Random thread but it's nice when past elements of the soap (or any show really) are brought up. I really like that in tonight's episode Nancy mentioned Becca even 8 years after her death, also alluding to Justin too. It just makes me feel good, maybe because 8 years ago the programme was so much better but that's besides the point, it's still good that continuity like that is still there. I'm sure Tony mentioned his daughter Grace at some point recently or she was alluded to and that again brought back memories. It just makes the programme more realistic (well, Hollyoaks realistic anyway). Not that I always want to be knocked on the head with stuff from the past but do you guys agree? Or would you rather have nothing mentioned at all?

I agree, I like it when they make references to the past. I thought Becca and Justin had been forgotten about as Charlie keeps being referred to as Nancy's son, when he is actually her nephew. Nancy also mentioned Foz a few months back and Darren was planning to visit his ex girlfriend Jess during the beer mat storyline.

I found Hollyoaks aren't as good as the other big 3 for making regular nods to the past so when Nancy mentioned Becca it was nice

I didn't know that Darren mentioned Jess, been on and off watching Oaks over the past year or so. Never thought she'd be referenced again, Foz too!

What ever happen to the murial that Foz created on the Wall?

And isnt Jess the girl that stole fat loads of money off Darren.

I noticed tonight's episode was written by Zoe Lister. Is that the same Zoe Lister who played Zoe Carpenter?

I do remember it being removed and I don't know why. To me it was a nice and touching tribute to those people that died and to remove it seemed wrong to me, although it was of characters who had died years earlier, a real tribute/mural wouldn't be so easily removed. And yeah Jess was interesting, was sad to see her go but not a character who had a lot of mileage.

That'll explain the references then. Someone who actually knows Hollyoaks wrote it

I remember after Rose was taken Cindy mentioning to Simone a few weeks ago about the time Holly went missing, I thought that was quite good continuity.
