EE: Kathy's Return - My Bet
I predict Kathy faked her death as part of a life insurance scam, but after years away can't live with the lie and now wants to return. Gavin is going to put the blame for the scam all on her and it's gonna result in a huge court battle with Kathy facing jail for deception. Otherwise it's a case of - after a few shock episodes when the truth of her return sinks in - Kathy being back in the cafe serving bacon butties with zero else to do.
Gavin is described as 'a new evil' but he clearly has no physical strength so his power is gonna be mental. He screwed with Kathy's mind to make her go along with the scam in the first place, and now he's gonna place all the blame on her making even Ian doubt her. Being Sharon's dad, he'll lure her into siding with him against Kathy and Ian. I sense it's gonna be big! |

If that's correct I feel sorry for Ben in that she'd rather fake her death and hence send him to live with Phil than continue looking after him!

However, they do it they're going to have to be very clever. Kathy was such an iconic character who would walk over hot coals for her children. So for her to have been alive whilst both Ian and Ben have been going through goodness knows how many traumas it isn't really going to wash with me.

This is the bit that really grinds my gears. I didn't watch Ee in the Kathy years, but I'm led to believe Kathy would have killed for her children. I don't know how long Kathy has been in the UK, but Lucy's death would have certainly made national news (typical story the media loves) and Kathy would have known everything Ian was going through. What sort of mother leaves their child to grieve for THEIR child?

Kathy was a good mother, despite all her failing in relationships she did have a strong bond with Ian, so this will be a tense situation and I think her relationship with Ben might be the hardest to reconnect with, it's unfortunately the downside of this storyline as it doesn't dwell on Kathy's character for abandoning her sons. Gavin is describe as a new type of evil, so it very much possible he not just manipulative but controlling and he could of restricted her access to things. Quote:
I'll quickly get shot down but I am still convinced that 'Gavin' is involved in Lucy's death in some way.

One thing for sure is, if Ben was messed up before, he's going to go stark raving mad to see his Mother walk back into his life, having been "dead" for nearly ten years.
