VCR to PC questions
I have just managed to get my VCR to play on my PC so that I can transfer to DVD.
A few questions: 1) What should I expect regards how much recording time will i get from VCR tape onto DVD? 2) Does a recording in LP or SP on the VCR have any effect 3) Are there any ways to extend the recording time that I am getting from VCR to DVD. I have tried a couple of my own tapes from VCR and can get about 2 hrs worth if I am lucky. Would be handy to increase this if possible. I am using PowerProducer 2 if that helps Thanks |

The standard recording time for a single layer DVD is 2 hours. If the software gives you the option you could try an extended mode that would give you 4 hours per disk and still be comprable quality to standard play VHS. A dual layer disk if supported by both PowerProducer and your DVD burner would obviously double these figures.
The recording time is entirely dependant on the recorder NOT the source so it will make no difference whatsoever whether your tapes were standard or long play (and in any case how would the PC know? )

What software is available that compresses the video to give you more than just 2 hrs?
Can anyone recommend other DVD writing software for use |

I use Ulead VideoStudio (which was bundled with the capture device)
Nero 6 can also be used. Startsmart > video > record a TV show |
