EastEnders complaints regarding "b***ard" use

I need to complain. I've not watched the episode yet because it's school holidays and I don't let my kids watch EastEnders. There's too much Cockney shenanigans for their little northern brains to process. Now I know that all of those people made a fuss over bog all. Bah. If you don't want your child to hear the B word (hardly a stream of f and c obscenities), gay men having it away next to a corpse, smoking, alcohol consumption, murders, beatings, racism, death, destruction, doom and gloom as well as zombies (how else do you explain Den and Kathy rising from the dead and zombies are more exciting than the actual writing) use I player, Sky plus it, watch anytime or use an old fashioned video. EE has never been a child friendly show - even when I watched as a teenager there was underage sex, drugs, rape and a dead baby that still haunts me now. There's other ways to watch when the innocent are asleep. I don't want my kids to see it so I record it - simples. I may be a cotton wool wrapping, helicopter, overprotective parent but I'd rather not have it on and them see than moan about it later.

I was going to do a thread on the outrage of Tina Carter's horrendous dead flamingo top but you've spoiled it now!

Max would pay handsomely for a woman to do that!
Er probably not Carol though!

29 complaints for the use of the word "Bastard" before the watershed.... Not one to defend EE, but why?? These days "bastard" is an extremely tame swear word, and if the same soap and other soaps can get away with using Bitch/Slag/Whore/Slapper etc before the watershed what makes Bastard so shocking?

How come swearing is allowed in Holby City (I don't watch it but I've heard it in bits I've seen) but not EastEnders?, when they're both on at the same time? it makes no sense.

There's two main reasons that I have heard in regards to complaints...
#1: kids watch this show
#2: its inappropriate

If "In The Night Garden" or "Horrid Henry" was to air with the use of the b word, then I can understand your point, 100%. However, this is EastEnders. EastEnders is not designed for kids. If your happy to let your young "impressionable" children watch a show consisting of murders, explosions, threats, arrests, sex, drugs, alcohol, abuse, mental health, lies, cheats, thugs, violence, health issues and nudity, thats fine, but you cannot then take the moral high ground when one of these characters in said show says a slightly offensive word, that these days is hardly even considered a sware word anymore.

If you feel it is inappropriate, that's fine, switch off and watch something else. Like my previous paragraph portrays, EastEnders is a show that consists of heightened raw drama, if you want to watch a show where everyone is happy and gets along, go and watch benidorm... Oh hold on, sorry they sware in that don't they??

It's 2015, society moves on and so does the English language... I guarantee your kids are saying much worse than Carol said last night.

Really you have a choice get a life or move on, because to the rest of the world you look pathetic.

Kind regards

A complete and utter b***ard”

I can think of far worse words!

No I'm taking the piss with the some of it. Some people need to get over themselves and stop watching Telly if a B word may shock their kids. I've also had surgery today and my brain is pickled so maybe posting is not good
