Since DTC has returned as EP for Eastenders, it hasn't gone amiss that he has brought many past characters back to the show...
Some characters returns have had a point to them, Jane has been hevily involved in the 'Who Killed Lucy', along with Ben who has had his sexuality revisited... Shabnam has had the story with Jade and CF, along with Dean who also has been involved in the rape story and rebuilding the disastrous relationship with Shirley...
But then you have Sonia, who has come back and got with Tina, Martin who has decided he will marry Stacey, and then Stacey herself who, apart from her initial comeback, has had relationship and lost a key...
Is there any long term plan for the last three returns? Sonia and Martin were best left in the past in the first place, imo, and have not really done anything when you consider Martin returned nearly a year ago, Sonia having been back as a regular nearly 2 years, after numerous guest returns...
With Stacey, her return was dubbed as part 2 of her first stint where she became rather iconic. It's a shame that she is not being used as much as her potential allows. This is my only real annoyance with DTC so please don't take this as a attack, its just a shame that nothing much has been done here.
I just hope that after the initial shockwaves and drama of Kathy's return, Kathy doesn't just resort to Marie mark 2
