Someone here has before suggested that les is the trans character we've heard about. Now I know that theory has been shut down a bit but there was a scene in EE recently where pam claudette and les were discussing pams dress or something and les's opinion was asked and pam said something along the lines of 'les wouldn't know anything about dresses' and then claudette and les gave eachother weird looks. Am I reading too much into this or did other people find that scene odd?

The exact line Pam said was
"The day my Les thinks my dress is beautiful is the day the dead rise up and start walking again."
I took it to be the second part of the sentence that was loaded with meaning...

Possibly an inside joke, but no, I actually think it's a clue / red herring as to what Claudette and Les' secret is.
There's been a lot of talk about about Coker & Sons... etc, and that there's no one to carry on the business. I think we're going to find out that Les and Pam have another son that isn't dead or something along those lines.

Les and Pam's son, Paul's Dad is dead. Pam helped him to die as he had some kind of chronic or terminal condition. That secret was what made them red herrings in the lucy murder.
That line could have been a reference to Les faking Nick's funeral and taking a backhanded for it. Maybe it wasn't the first time he's done such a thing and Claudette knows about it?

Thanks. I didn't know that. I don't watch EastEnders regularly these days. But still, the fact that they had a child together would suggest that he isn't transgender, would it not?

Transgender people can still have children as can gay and lesbian people. So just because Les has a son doesn't mean he cannot be transgender. Although I don't believe the rumours myself.

Unless Les was pregnant, which begs the question how Pam got Les pregnant.

Being a transvestite and transgender are 2 very different things.
Plenty of transvestites are actually attracted to the opposite gender and marry and have children so Les could easily be that.
What i meant is that if Les was into cross drying he might have come across some transgender people but he is not one himself.

Well it would depend if they were pre or post op wouldn't it? I didn't think there was a way of having children post gender realignment as they don't have the necessary reproductive organs - ie a uterus and womb if male to female.

I know that, but I didn't know transvestism was being discussed. I thought we were talking about him being transgender.

Well i thought the theory being discussed was that he is a Cross Dresser which is nickname for a Transvestite so...
There were rumours a while back that there were to introduce a transgender character but DTC said that if they did it, they would cast a transgender actor/actress so that can't be Roger Sloman.

I do think it is more likely to be a middle aged or younger person than somebody of Les' age. Simply because it was so hard to get the condition recognised and surgery approved until relatively recently.
Certainly my childhood friend who is transgender is now 47 (so about the same age as Hayley was in Corrie) and it took him about 15 years for it to be recognised and then the process of counselling, living as a Man for 2 years started after which they started the formone drugs.
I think (hope) it is much easier for young people today.

Yes, I took the second part to be Pam having a lighthearted dig about Les having a problem with maybe erectile dysfunction, and so the look between Les and Claudette was about him not having any trouble with her.

Or Paul's dad whose name I forget? Could he be the trans character that Les and Claudette may be hiding? Maybe Pam thought she helped kill him but didn't do it properly and he faked his death. This would be awesome.
