EE - Ben's charges?

I'm confused, has Ben been charged with anything or has he just been bailed, he not admit to robbing Lucy, yet he prints or DNA was on her things, the cab bloke identified Ben only, Jay was never mentioned by either, Marsden said she wanted to question him, yet he was arrested for theft and next day got a suspended sentence and tag, yeah Ben has not had anything, none of it seems to makes any sense.

As I understand it, this is what happened:

Ben's fingerprints on Lucy's things don't prove that he mugged her, because he could have handled them any time;

Billy told the police about Jay being involved;

If Ben had been prosecuted for mugging Lucy, then he would go straight back to prison because he's on parole for the manslaughter conviction;

Therefore Jay decided to take the blame for the mugging in order to save Ben from going to prison, and he was careful not to tell the police that Ben was also involved.

(but I'm not sure why Billy grassed up Jay thought)

I'm glad you cleared that up as I was confused about Ben as well.

I think the reason Billy grassed Jay up was because he thought that if Jay was arrested, lola wouldn't leave on her own and it would keep her an Lexi with him.

Thank you that makes more sense, wish they had actually said that on screen.

That clears it up for me as well. Found it a bit confusing.

Bit not as confusing as Lola leaving which didn't really make any sense.

That doesn't make any sense to me either. She was willing to run away with Jay as she didn't want to be apart from him (despite only being a couple for about 5 minutes) but when Jay gets arrested and subsequently put on tag meaning he has to stay in Walford she buggers off anyway and has a long distance relationship with him from Newcastle.

What was the point of making her and Jay a couple if her character was leaving the show anyway. A better storyline would have been she was offered a better job elsewhere and wanted to make a better life for herself and Lexi.
