Songs for Mexican themed party?
Any help would be appreciated.
Need songs to add to my playlist, whether that be popular Mexican party songs, or just summer holiday party songs etc. I am usually a Rock music fan so this stuff isn't my forte haha. Of course if i had my own way it would be just full of AC/DC and the like but too many drama queens will be in attendance and i don't want to disappoint. |

Gipsy Kings - Bamboleo. You'll recognise it when you hear the chorus
http://youtu.be/mifnMC_Kn1Q In fact any song by the Gypsy Kings will do. |

Texan band Calexico are very Mexican influenced. Check out their album Feast of Fire.
Also, anything by Compay Segundo. |

Loco by Fun Lovin Criminals would sound good too. Such a classic. You ought to look up something by the late Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez (she went by just Selena as a recording artist). She was a household name with Latin audiences in the States. |

True Mexican music is mariachi but I guess for a themed party no one minds the watered down tex mex stuff. Same for food which is nothing like true Mexican cuisine which is very varied depending on the region. I lived in Mexico many years ago.
And no Mexican party is complete without a piņata which can be bought in toys'r us now and great fun for both adults and children . Fill it with sweets and hang it from a tree, It's our variation of pin the tail on the donkey but you use a stick instead of a pin I am sure your party will be great. Enjoy or disfrutado! |

Here's a slow one for near the end of the evening. It's not really Mexican, but comes from a film with a strong Mexican content.
It was featured in the film "Lone Star" Pilar puts it on the jukebox and she and Sam dance to it. In the film it was sung in Spanish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3ZsRl7u53c |
