as for the set that could also be sold or leased... if they no longer wanted to make EE and someone else wanted to they would ensure they made as much money from it as possible”

You really don't understand how TV works. Read Kitkat's post.

the bbc is not just a programme maker, they make a lot of money by selling on shows, rights to shows, mercahndise etc. having someone else produce the show and them taking a slce of everything from the rights actually makes good business sense and they are after all a corporate environment where money is everything

If they decided to cancel EE after building the new set, they would have to justify to the government why they have wasted the tax payers money.

If another company wanted to buy the set, and take over the production of the show the BBC would be very rightly called to account if they said no.

they would have to recoup what they had spent somehow.

but yeah I know nothing *insert roll eye smiley*

but as I first said it's not likely to happen, I was just saying that potentially it could be made and shown onanother channel. bit like top gear not that it will becalled top gear anymore lol”

Top Gear hasn't moved networks? Chris Evans is the new presenter.

It will be the same show. Just like Top Of The Pops continued to be the same show after Savile left it in the 80s. I'm not sure what your point is?

The BBC own all the content right to Top Gear so none of the regular features you use to see on Top Gear will be present on Clarkson's new show. So how can it be more Top Gear than Top Gear when all the weekly features will not be present?

The previous poster is right. You should read KitKat's post on copyright.

I think if anything eastenders ans everything else on tv will become entirely to watch on phones and computers only...TVS are seriously getting outdated and multipule other things can be done on 1 other device and 1 always on a
Person bar a fee situations. I for one always watch live on my
Phone
Or catch up later (hense why i dont post mid thread )

Eastenders has become a uk traditional show that most people know about. It would be strange to be gone completely.

I think TVs will still exist and remain popular even once over the air broadcast has ended, but the way the channels are delivered would be different.

For everything to be available to watch via internet only via a phone, computer or tv, everyone in the country would need a dedicated high speed broadband line with unlimited data usage. So it seems a very long way off, more like decades than years.

So people would have to make a show set in another Square but not Albert Square, which didn't have the Queen vic and where even if they got the actors, Woodyatt wouldn't be playing Ian Beale, McFadden Phil Mitchell etc.

Brookside could have been bought by another channel because it was actually made and owned by Lime. Likewise Hollyoaks if it were cancelled. BBC productions are very different.

Why do people think Doctor Who was off air for so many years after the BBC cancelled it in 89 despite loads of people wanting to take it on, including American production companies”

You're assuming too much and it is wrong.

If the show was ending on BBC One, and Sky 1 wanted to continue the show as is, the BBC would either have to produce the show for Sky 1 as an independent production company, or sell it on as a format. The BBC already do this for other shows and formats it owns.

Doctor Who ended because nobody wanted it.

I am not assuming assuming anything. The BBC wouldn't HAVE to do anything. Perhaps you weren't following the multiple negotiations which went on over people trying to buy the rights to Doctor Who to produce it between 1990 and 2004 (including the film in 96) or know anybody on the Current Doctor Who production team - I was and do.

The shows you mention are orobably co-productions or actually made outside of the BBC by somebody like KUDOS

However, if you choose not to believe me, that is up to you,i have nothing ti prove.

Even if the BBC is destroyed which is likely under this government, they will be around in some form. BBC Productions will likely keep producing the top players (Top Gear, Doctor Who, Sherlock etc.), though this may mean EastEnders appearing on a different channel.
