Corrie for me all day long, gave up on EE about feb

EastEnders, but it isn't be used as well as it could and there is still some dead wood - hello the Cokers/Hubbards/Dean!

There are too many atrocious actors on Corrie which puts me off. The likes of Eileen Derbyshire and Barbara Knox have nothing on June Brown. I often see a lot of distinguished actors say that they have respect for JB, but I don't think the same is ever said about the Corrie elite.

EastEnders. It's the best it's been in years. Very few deadwood characters. It's not quite as good as it was, say, five years ago, but it's still great.

Emmerdale's is pretty good too, though I'm only a really casual viewer.

I like the Cokers and the Hubbards

Yes but in EE the deadwood (Fatboy, Lee, Whitney) are kept in the background while in corrie it seems they are given big stories constantly (Sean, Fizz)

As a collective unit the Emmerdale team

A decade or so ago I would have said Coronation Street but the bad writing is starting to lead to some equally bad acting from previously reliable script savers. Barbara Knox, Beverley Callard, Kate Ford to name just a few off the top of my head. All previously very good actresses that seem to be forgetting how to act as each year goes by. (And before anyone puts my head on a stick for mentioning Kate Ford being good, I thought she was great in the Karen/Steve/Tracy stuff )

I've never thought the EastEnders cast were anything special. Downright laughable in some episodes and scenes I've seen but the ones that I am familiar with in other shows have been good - Ross Kemp and Diane Parish being two I can think of straight away. I don't think the writing tends to do the actors much good though, for the most part it's either look solemn, cry, shout, glare or look threatening at somebody. There seems to be little else in the way of talent required. Sadly Coronation Street seems to be going the same way at the moment.

I've seen very little of the other soaps, bar Emmerdale, so can't really speak for them. The little acting I've seen from Doctors and Hollyoaks though has not impressed me much at all. So right now I'd say Emmerdale. Some of the cast still continue to surprise me with their ability to switch between drama and humour and the cast are able to do their best with the occasions when they're given horrendous scripts and still manage to play them convincingly.

Would have said EE few months back but as the year goes on it is getting weaker. What with who is being brought in/back and the departures/breaks. Emmerdale is the strongest for me just now

Despite a few duffers - on the whole - it would have to be Corrie for me. Even though the scripts have been more miss than hit lately - the acting of the likes of Sally Dynevor, Joe Duttine, Jane Danson, David Neilson ... and even Kate Ford (intermittently I'll admit) beats the best acting of any actors in other soaps. I was sorely tempted to go for Emmerdale but the acting from the people who play Val, Pete, Rachel, Jai, Lisa and a lot of others just about made my mind up to go for the Street.

BIB I wouldn't call them the deadwood. A year ago I'd have said EE had the best cast, but with the likes of the Cokers, Sonia and Tina, Cindy, Ma Hubbard, Kush and NuMartin now being pretty dominant it is nowhere near as good as it was.

What about Home & Away and Neighbours?

Emmerdale by far for me. The others have a selection of great actors and characters but as on practically every other front ED has the most consistent set.
