Note! "might be" tempted I can't fathom what Humax were thinking when they decided to start a new trend in gadget decor, nor why they have delayed the release of the 1TB model.”

Compared to Humax DTR-T2000,YouView and Humax HDR-1100S,Freesat Freetime. I'm lucky to have a relative in the trade. My TV is a Samsung.

Yes there is one SCART on my TV and did use It originally for the DVD/HDD player but after being nagged by people to use HDMI I have now done that and don't want to go back to using SCART for that device again.
No, If I feel so inclined to buy the new HUMAX then someone kindly above gave me links to three way HDMI adapter that I could use.

I've found my Humax DLNA clients can't play MKV's back over the network from a DLNA server, so that wouldn't be helpful in a lot of cases.
Not only that but my DLNA server devices aren't always switched on when I want to view a video file, so having it available locally is a far better option.

Thank you, Nigel, Call and Bampsam for responses.

As for the dearth of decent quality TV shows making 1TB unnecessary - I like to use a PVR as a repository, my next one should last until I peg out

This adaptor works fine for me. As you know Amazon have a wide selection to. Tinkering with settings it appears the box upscales to 1080p.

I am quite happy with it the epg could look better as others have said.

Thanks. Similar to http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neet%C2%A9-S.../dp/B001DAHS5Q above but slightly dearer.

Just a thought using those 3 way HDMI adapters is that I have my two HDMI inputs on my TV 'tuned' to each of the devices currently plugged in with respect to sharpness, contrast, brightness etc. etc.
If another device shares the same input, by using the adapter one cannot be certain that, say, the TV settings on that input for old Humax will be satisfactory for the new Humax or whatever other device use choose to feed into that TV's HDMI input.

I used two with my old Denon AV receiver which only had two hdmi inputs. They worked fine.

As you say, in the settings you get a choice of 1080i or 1080p. Mine was defaulted to 1080i, so worth double checking when people get the box.

No difference in resolution between 1080i and 1080p. Depending on how good your TV de-interlaces compared to the box either may give the best results. There's no difference at all with my Panasonic TV.

Yes, so people may as well try them both to see which they consider the better picture on their particular set up. Knowing that the setting is there and defaulted to 1080i gives them a heads up that there is a choice, which was my point.
Not really interested in an in depth technical discussion.

From the moment you start using it, it certainly seems a bit slow. Not as responsive as my Humax Fox HDR T2.

The only scroll back on demand channels that work are BBC, nothing at all from ITV, 4 or 5 although iPlayer, All 4, ITV Player and 5od all appear in the separate 'apps' section of the box.

The screen is occasionally flicking on and off, can't work out why but sometimes it cuts out for a second when changing channel or navigating the menus.

You get proper channel logos in the guide (downloaded from the web) and thumbnail photos on the now and next part, which is the default view when pressing the guide button. You then need to press right to see a 'normal' view of the guide.

The only thing that is annoying is that there is no dedicated 'media' or 'recordings' button, you have to go to 'home' and then scroll to the 'recordings' section to see what you've recorded.

Here's plenty of photos showing the setup and various menus etc...

If anyone has any questions, please ask.

I won't be swapping out my current recorder yet, I am assuming a firmware update is imminent and will check again after that.”

Thanks for the info.

Can recorded programmes be organised into folders as they could be on the Fox HDR T2?

This has been answered a few times on this thread. Only series link programmes go into folders.

No Folder option given on this machine.

Just had mine delivered. Will hopefully get some time to set it up this evening, so will report my thoughts back once I've used it!

Presumably because the software isn't ready yet.

I just wish people didn't expect these machines to do and have every bloody thing under the sun. Oh dear, It's got this but hasn't got that etc. Personally all this limited catch-up Is just that and hardly ground breaking or extensive. Just give me the facility to record at least three programmes simultaneously in a decently designed form factor (which this isn't, really) and I'd be happy.

I think that people just expect these machines to do what their 5 year old machine did well, with some improvements. Apart from the three tuners, this doesn't really deliver on that front.

I agree call100.
I expect new machines and software to build on the good things.
E.g. I have a Humax PVR9200T which has Picture-in-Picture which I think is very useful.
I also have a Humax HDR-Fox T2 which doesn't have PiP, very disappointing, but it has the folders, which is very useful.
AFAIK the new FVP-4000T has neither PiP nor folders, which is very very disappointing.
So to me it gives the impression that the designers of these new machines have never actually had much, if any, experience of the previous versions.
Or they were just given a fixed spec to work from and couldn't change it, even if they wanted to.
