Do you love it though? You have said numerous times on this thread that the pq is great. Most of us have a tv for that. What do you actually like about it? Did you perhaps have an old pvr before buying this which makes the 4000 look much better than it is, in terms of new technology?

I have several pvrs and this seems like a step backwards compared to them.

As I have mentioned before on this thread,l have been able to use the Humax HDR-1100S and the Humax DTR-T2000 over the last few months, which are nowhere near dated! Believe me,the FVP4000T beats the pair regarding PQ.

Getting effing tedious this is. Quite unique this PVR. Looks like a Dog's dinner but has marvellous - guess What? PICTURE QUALITY.
I only use a PVR for recording what I don't want to watch live and to remove ads and so as long as the playback picture is as good as if I'd watched it on my Telly, well then that's a bonus. Simples!

Fast start up from low power setting. Accurate record start times. Quiet operation. Appearance. Apologies if I'm upsetting anyone, but my viewing habits are mostly recorded programmes.

All that you list is what my current Humax Fox 2 does apart from 3 tuners. My viewing habits are largely watching recorded programmes too as I have said before - I think.

We will both enjoy what we have then.

Not upsetting anyone, but those could also be applied to my T2. IMO the FVP-4000T has no redeeming features apart from having three tuners. To be honest that's not enough to make it even half decent. Even the backward EPG is a disappointment.
This was supposed to be the future, but, Humax have made a right Royal botch of the whole thing.
I doubt anyone could give it a complete and resounding endorsement.

It also looks like the Panasonic one I was waiting for is a complete dogs dinner......Guess I'll have to wait until all the others bring theirs out.

Are there any CEC (Bravia sync, Anynet etc) issues with this new model? There were none with the Fox T-2 but there were on the 1800 unless they were fixed with an update after I had one on loan.

I'd be interested to know what you base your Panasonic views on. Thanks.

I see the Humax live TV app states has added support for FVP-4000T on 26 October does that mean maybe that the app would work as it states and remote record etc

According to Barry at MyHumax who has had a box for a very long time the app has always worked (eg supported remote streaming to ios and android devices). Remote scheduling currently does not.

Aha ok, will await a dedicated app then as it's the remote record I am missing most at the moment. Hope it's not too long a wait

All pvrs have these features, there's nothing unique there.

So my opinion remains the same. Humax seem to think that the three tuners means they didn't have to try with this unit. Even without the fantastic custom firmware, the Fox t2 is better than this. So disappointed

I think the other major improvement compared to the excellent HDR_FOX T2 is the larger range of catch up players but I have no current plans to buy a FVP-4000T.

You are a brave person to put up with all this negativity. Putting you through an inquisition.

It put me off the thread and I've decided to enjoy my box in peace. I don't understand why posters can't accept people have different views. It's becoming like the mobile forum where anyone with a different point of view is hounded.

Compared to the HDR FoxT2 the box is better in my opinion. There are a couple of negatives (awkward lack of info button and not able to create folders (yet)) but I find other things as quick/easy or quicker/easier than the FoxT2.

I think some other opinions were based on initial slightly innacurate reports. Looking at reviews and other forums there is a much more balanced approach.

It's a Freeview Play box, what did you expect?

I have never used the FoxT2,so have no opinion on that box. I purchased the 4000T for the ability to record more than two programmes at once, and if I dare mention the dreaded letters PQ,it justified the cost. I've said on numerous occasions there are flaws with the box,but surely if it is rock solid and reliable, then it's worth keeping. I respect other people's views,so surely they can respect mine. Preparing to be shot down now...

Well if my FOX T2 broke down and couldn't economically be repaired or if I could not be bothered then I would seek out its successor which now may or may not be available. If that failed then a 4000T would be on the cards.

I expected it to be at least as good as the Fox T2 in the UI, functions, and speed. From previous posts it appears to fall down on all these.

Comparing it to a current Humax box would be far more valid. That would be the HDR-2000T, which has a lot of issues widely reported.

Even in the current state were I forced to replace my 2 HDR FOX T2's the FVP-4000T would be my choice.

Barry at MyHumax has access to virtually all Humax boxes, after the software update, it's now his primary recording device. That's good enough for me.

It may be that you need to accept that people have different views....
My opinions (virtually all negative) are based on having the box from first release.
If someone bought it as their first PVR, they wouldn't know how bad the UI is and maybe would accept it as a good box.
However, given that the PVR should now be a nice mature well set up piece of machinery with an excellent UI based on the best bits from all previous PVR's, this fails.
What exactly is quicker than the Fox T2? I may have missed something....The other things you mention that are lacking are also deal breakers...

This is a forum where people have different opinions, there is no bravery required and I haven't seen any inquisition either. If we all agreed with one another it would be a very boring forum with no debate.

I would be interested in what people think of the new remote layout as I'm so used to having the channel numbers at the top and I'm not sure if this new layout is proving to be more intuitive to use ........ or not?
