The first pic is from bbc1 to itv, next is bbc2 to bbc1 and last is bbc1 to bbc2. As can see always shows previous channel information... Mine is also the 1TB model”

Could it just be a problem with the 1TB model,as mine is the 500GB. Weird!

No, it does that on my 500Gb box as well. Not sure if it's something to do with the return to previous channel function....Not really seeing the point myself.

Whatever it is it's annoying and I would rather it tell me the info for the channel I am switching to, not the channel I have switched from... None of my other devices do this not even the freetime box or the youview box

That is strange that two identical boxes act in different ways.

Can I ask if any owners of the 1TB Model have noticed any problems bringing the PVR out of Standby whilst recording a programme. That is if you try to watch an existing recording whilst recording another channel.

Humax 4000 - over 4 weeks of use

It's a great box -

it records 4 channels at the same time - it works well on catch up from the 'Guide' - the 'On Demand' section offers 'normal' iplayer type functions too

the USB works well - copying programmes from the hard disk to a pen drive - you can play them back on the Humax - or on a PC - copying is a bit slow - playing back other media uses the 'Media' section but playing back from stuff copied from the Humax uses the 'Storage' section of 'Recordings' - and you can have both sorts of media on the same USB - confusing at first

I've started to use the box as a DLNA server - never done it before - I'm starting to get to grips with it - I can watch stuff stored on the hard disk - via my home network - using a whole variety of devices - on my Android Tablet and my Win7 PC - both using Kodi and on my Samsung Smart TV - AND I can do it at the same time that someone else is using the Humax box in normal mode to watch a programmes on the tele - there is some fragility that occasionally causes the devices to stop streaming and I'm trying to find out what's causing the problem to occur - probably something I'm doing wrong

I would like to see -

a choice to change to 'Recordings' view from thumbnail to list - the thumbnails take up too much screen space and serve little purpose

I would like to be able to rename recordings and create new folders to store them - my Humax Freesat box can do it.

It's not perfect at the moment - but it is fantastic - and Humax will make it even better

Thanks - more will follow

Another thing that's bugging me also is y does it record all the repeats of programmes when I have series record set. I only want the original episode taped not all the repeats afterwards....

Which channel and programme ? That sounds like a broadcaster crid code issue.

My Vestel box does that if I have watched and deleted the original recording before the repeat is aired.

Thanks for the detailed review, blackcow, I'm following all feedback with interest before taking the plunge, having been put off by Humax's previous efforts (eg, remote control, interface), but my HDR Fox-T2 has been reasonably stable until recently.

Of course, there are the treasured hackers to improve things, if I can still get my head around custom firmwares.

I have no way of checking crids on the Freeview play crid. I can though try it out on Freeview. The used to frequently screw up the crids on Neighbours and Home And Away.

Freeview is also affected (HDR FOX T2). Scheduling tonights Gadget Show at 19:15 also schedules the repeat Sunday 15th 00:55

Don't think it happens on freesat. So do we just have to out up with it or is there a way if fixing it

On my Humax Freesat box, the series links are frequently screwed.

Only problem I have with freetime box is the accurate recording is far from accurate, not had a single minute missed on freeplay as yet set on auto

I seem to have a problem like that. I switch TV on when box is recording but on standby, try to bring box out of standby and nothing appears to happen. But if I change TV input from HDMI1 (i.e. Human box) to TV then switch box on, TV is auto switched to HDMI1, and box is working

My working theory for now is that when box comes out of standby, it doesn't tell the TV, so the TV doesn't display anything. Comments welcome as I don't really know much about the subject.

I am currently on my third 1TB recorder. Humax said the second one was faulty, so replaced again. The problem is still the same, all 3 recorders would not come out of standby whilst recording. On Monday emailed Humax support for their comments. No reply so far!

I was expecting the Freeeview Play CRIDs to be the same as the normal freeview epg CRIDs which happen to be available for view on the HDR-FOX T2 Info Plate when the option has been switched on.
Menu > Settings > System > System Information > Red > Green > Yellow > Blue > Green > Yellow > Blue

Five's method of allocating serial CRIDs for duplicate series broadcasts is to use a slight variation of the series CRID between channels. The channel 'Channel 5' has a basic CRID while five's other channels showing the same series has a channel unique extra added to the series CRID. This works apart from when the series is broadcast twice or more on the same channel, an example being Channel 5 and the Gadget Show.

Yes, I have that as an intermittent problem. Just one more thing to add to all the other minus points......

Auto selection of a HDMI port requires box and TV to use CEC control. Unfortunately CEC control has unwanted side effects like turning off the box turns off the TV and Vice Versa. Most TV's will remember the last used input and select it when turned on, or have a menu option to select this.

Selecting the TV and then the HDMI port causes the box and TV to redo HDCP handshaking.

Assuming TV is HD Ready 1080i should work OK.

Some old HD sets will not accept 1080P but 1080I should be ok.

The to in question is quite old so have set the box to 720 and will await and see if that works later
