Something else I've noticed, but not sure if it worked on the previous software,is that if I press the fast forward key on the remote whilst viewing the guide,it moves on to the next two hour block.
Not new but perhaps more noticeable due to not having to press right to move from now/next.

Having owned mine since launch day,and having used the latest software for the last few days,I am more than happy with the FVP-4000T. I agree with the likes of call100 and others that Humax did rush this PVR to market, and things like omitting the info button on the remote was a big error, and the layout of recordings could be better. Those mistakes put to one side,I now own the most reliable Humax I have had,and I've owned a few over the years. It's rock solid reliable, never missing a recording, and it hasn't frozen in the last few months. Having the ability to record more than two programmes is a big bonus, and as Humax are still updating software,I think I shall be keeping mine for some time to come. Now preparing to be shot down.......

I'm glad you're happy

From a dealers point of view we're inundated by complaints about them - they still haven't cured the 'stuck in standby' bug, and the last update only claims to have 'improved' it.

Not only that, the last update added a further bug, with the boxes now locking up very frequently, and Humax advise turning Network Server OFF, to reduce the issue.

Unfortunately it's Humax 'as usual', releasing exceptionally 'buggy' products, and been abysmally slow at curing the issues. It's the 9200 all over again

I just find it strange that I don't suffer any of the faults quoted above.

Here's some other issues I've had with the box:

Random restarting of the box, even cutting recordings short while it reboots.

Volume indicator appearing nonsensically massive without reason. usually sorted by standby and back on.

Most annoying one yet is if I play a recording that failed, it blanks off the picture to display the "this recording failed" message, but it does not always restore the picture after the message goes away. Even after stopping playback the picture is blanked on live TV, but the menu still shows, but the picture is blanked on all playback as well. The only fix I've found for this is off and on at the plug.

But aside from that it's still a nice device, just wish it was a touch more stable and had a better EPG layout and I do miss the folders for sorting recordings.

Big improvement over the last mishmash.

Yes, the epg is an improvement on the last one, but, that's all relative. It's just better than the last one and not as good as it should be.
They still need to address all the other bugs and missing functions. They still need to sort out the awful UI..........

does anyone have a picture of the new epg layout that was really one of the main things that put me off buying it, also can you add manual timers?

You've obviously been very lucky

Incidentally, we were told today by Freesat that the latest update (for Netflix) has added even more bugs

Demoted mine to the bedroom a while back after I got fed up of the slow performance. I might have been able to live with the demented UI if it wasn't so painfully slow - press home button (waits) select recordings (screen goes blank for 3 seconds before loading up) etc etc

I really think the only things this box has going for it is the ability to record 4 programmes, and (at a push) the external design, which is quite nice, but otherwise useless. I've switched to YouView in the lounge - very frustrating to not be able to pad the start and end of recordings, and set manual recordings, but overall a much more stable and quick box to use. Automatically adding new channels and not removing the record list is something Humax should have sorted years ago.

Yes, but Freesat are closely associated with Humax, and the rep was passing on information from them.

Totally agree, as I posted a while back, demoted mine to the office and use it occasionally. for basically the same reasons as you. Slow box, pig of a UI and no info button or folders....
I'm looking for something else, it could be YouView I suppose. I don't really see the point in the backward epg when all the catchup services are on the box anyway. So that's not really a requirement, but I wouldn't discount a box because of it, I'd just ignore it, as I do on the Humax....

If I go backwards in the EPG to previous days, shouldn't I see more catchup programmes available (ITV, CH4, CH5) to watch than just on the BBC channels?

Yes. Are you really looking at ITV, CH4 CH5, or are you looking at ITV HD, CH4 HD and CH5 HD?

Thanks - I thought I'd tried both but there are SD catchup shows listed for ITV/CH4. So I guess BBC is the only HD catchup option. Also CH5 catchup seems only to be through the app, not the EPG.

SInce the most recent software update. The box is stable again, and the problem with starting from standby while recording seems to have disappeared. EPG better, and seems faster to update, which is good. On Demand Netflix is much quicker to load too. Back to being very pleased with it. Phew.

Couldn't agree more, just don't understand why so many owners have problems.

The only issue I have is that I don't get any sound on BBC Olympics HD channel 114. Is anyone else experiencing this? I created a separate thread about this with no helpful response.

You mean other than the fact that Humax admit to a number of on-going software issues, including adding more every time they do an update

Although to be fair we haven't had any complaints for the last couple of weeks?.

Works on a Humax T-2, maybe "finger trouble", try a factory reset.

Perhaps that is because the complaints are still the same. Ugly UI, Slow, no info button, no folders etc.
The last update changing the EPG gave with one hand and took with the other. The people working on the updates are the same as the ones who originated the UI. It would appear that they don't use one of the boxes, they need to turn the project over to someone who does.
It's still lagging way behind the T2 in usability, they couldn't even look in their own backyard for inspiration....

Carried out a full reset, sacrificing all my recordings but still not working. I really don't understand why CBeebies HD works but as soon as the channel switches to Olympics HD, no sound! 😡😡😡
