Here's plenty of photos showing the setup and various menus etc...

Please would it be possible to add a photo of the remote control?

No worries, that's been added to the folder.

From the moment you start using it, it certainly seems a bit slow. Not as responsive as my Humax Fox HD
....
The only scroll back on demand channels that work are BBC, nothing at all from ITV, 4 or 5 although iPlayer, All 4, ITV Player and 5od all appear in the separate 'apps' section of the box
...
Picture 18 taken at 1900, shows that afternoon's programming from ITV and C4? Or do you mean its there but doesn't work?

Well after setting it all up this evening, I can see why they have decided not to officially launch the product yet. It doesn't seem ready.

From the moment you start using it, it certainly seems a bit slow. Not as responsive as my Humax Fox HDR T2.
It may be struggling because although it is connected to the internet the freeview playback info servers are not fully on-line. I have an Youview DTR-T2100 which although connected to the internet fails to contact the Youview servers first thing each day and therefor struggles. (DTR-T2100 is made by Humax, my Youview Huawei does not have the same issue.)

What is the DTR-4000T's performance and menus like if you disconnect it from the internet? Is there a difference?

Yes the listings work but you can't play anything.

Only the ones with the little play icon can be played, which is only BBC at present.

Argos have told me they may not be selling it after all.

Strangest launch of a product I can remember.
Couldn't agree more and I wonder why Humax has allowed this to happen, not a good advert for a new product or is there a problem and needs attention?

Bush is an Argos brand and my expectation would be that when Vestel release their first freeview play recorder next year that Argos will be having at least some of them branded with 'Bush' or 'Hitachi' (with a licensee to do the later from Hitachi). Argos may want to wait until next year to see where the best profit margin lies with Humax V Vestel (Bush/Hitachi) and also Manhattan (possibly also branded Bush?).

Argos appear to have already stopped selling the HDR-2000T. I was wondering if it was due to the number of returns it was having - not that I know if that was above average, but some of the bugs will have had a major impact on some users. Argos ae still selling the HDR-1800T which uses the same software as the HDR-2000T but due to the pricing levels the HDR-1800T buyers may not be quite as demanding as the HDR-2000T buyers.

I purchased it on Saturday from Hughes. Because only BBC iplayer worked I emailed Humax. I received this reply today:

"The product is now available.
Can you check your unit for the latest software?
System Information - Latest version is UKTFAE 1.00.59
If you are not on this version please select check new software."

After the update I have found that all the on demand apps now work except for Demand5.
I am very happy with my new purchase.

Beat me to it!! Just noticed the FVP-4000T is now available from Humax Direct,so hopefully the new software will iron out the recent problems preventing the launch of this product. Mine has just arrived,so looking forward to setting up this evening.

Well I have updated to the latest software and I'm still not impressed.

Still not able to scroll back and watch anything other than BBC channels and the whole thing is just slow.

Every time I click on a future programme in the EPG I get please wait and it's a good couple of seconds before any information appears.

Think I'll probably end up taking mine back or selling it on.

Blimey that doesn't sound like a good start I have a bad feeling about this model.

Out of interest, what speed is your internet connection and are you wired or Wifi?

Internet is about 6 meg, on wifi.

It can't be checking the Internet each time just for basic epg info, and if it is then it's even worse than I thought it was.

Have only had mine for a day,but initial impressions are very good. Picture quality is actually better than my YouView DTR-T2000,which I didn't think could be improved on. All catch up players work fine, and YouTube is a big bonus. So far, well happy.

That's put the cat amongst the pigeons, it looks like we are going to get some likes and dislikes, I will decide to buy with the majority who give it 5 out of 5 or good reviews on the web.

This box seems to be the holy grail. Up until now, only Virgin Media Tivo had three tuners. It's available at John Lewis for £199.95 with two year guarantee.

Does it have the Blinkbox app?

Can it stream video from NAS drives like the FreeSat box can?

Cheers

Three tuners is a great bonus, along with the promise of Netflix in a few months. But why oh why no Amazon or NowTV? I would love to have 1 box for everything.

I may wait until the new Panasonic boxes come out, but their drawback is having only two tuners. I'm not sure which is more important to me yet...more apps or three tuners.
