John Lewis are also selling, but claim that despite having 3 tuners it can only record 3 programmes at once and if you are watching a channel it can only record two.
I am also suspicious of the John Lewis 2 year guarantee and its effect on the price guarantee. It comes with standard 1 year warranty, but you can upgrade this to 2 years by registering on the Humax site http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/wregistrations.php "Warranty Registrations You automatically have a one year warranty on your New Humax Set-Top-Box or Digital TV Recorder. To upgrade to a 2 year warranty absolutely free, please register within 30 days of purchase of your new Humax product. Warranty registration is only valid for new products and the additional warranty is not included for Refurbished, Graded, or Manager's special products." . |

http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/fvp-4000t-500gb-mocha.html Then click the "TECH SPECS" button. . |

John Lewis has a 2 year warranty on most electrical items now. They have never included their free warranties when comparing prices with other suppliers for their price guarantees.
Worth checking prices in shops in the same area, if they are cheaper JL will match them at their stores. Online conditions I seem to remember are different, check the Ts & Cs. |

I have a FOX-HDR-T2 also. Do you know if I will be able to transfer my recordings onto the FVP box? Also, does the guide have a Search function to find upcoming/past programmes in the EPG?
It has a dedicated search button on the remote that searches past and present epg and recordings. |

Reference folders....I can't see any way of making a folder and moving your selection to it.
The recordings I have are not yet on a second episode, but, there is a number in the bottom right of the recording thumbnail. They all have a '1' there, so, I'm assuming a second episode will change that number to '2' Making the thumbnail a folder as such. |

As far as I know there in no app as yet. Freesat Freetime and YouView have apps, but they would be of no use on Freeview Play.

Can someone who has this PVR tell me if you can renumber channels please?
I'd hate to have to key in 3 numbers for the HD channels as I currently have them renumbered on my my fox t2. |

USB Archiving
Cannot remember now where I've seen it - either on the Humax direct website or elsewhere, but I've seen something along the lines of 'archiving via USB outlet'.
Anyone - Does this mean I can transfer the original digital file direct from the box onto my PC or NAS in order to clear space on the box HDD and keep the original for watching in years to come? If yes then I'll almost certainly get one. If no, then I'll stick with my 9200T which I modded some years back in order to have that facility - if I remember correctly it was referred to as the son_t widget and it works brilliantly (still). You can play back with Videolan no probs. |

In what sense is the software open source?
![]() Basically each manufacturer will be able to skin it how they like and add their own touches. I'm guessing that sooner or later there will be a lively community with custom software in various forms. |

You would have to read the lengthy Open source software notice in the back of the handbook....

I rather doubt that the core application will be Open Source.
(By easy I mean over a network a la custom firmware as compared to opening up and replacing chips) |
