Regarding the second spoiler I agree! Why would he? Corrie does this too often, taking people with good careers, jobs or own businesses and giving them lesser paid jobs on the Street in a totally unrealistic fashion. Either that or they're a criminal and get given a job on the Street like Michael or Not Gavin. What next, Callum getting a job in the Community Centre looking after kids?
