A basic pack channel actually branded "Sky Sports" and showing actual sport seemed unlikely, but some clues were that Sky1 had started to show football occasionally. Great to see a rumour proved right, it'll even interest me on a channel basis but I would never subscribe to the actual Sky Sports channels!

This is just another great reason to be a Sky subscriber. It's also fair to give something back to the wider Sky audience as clearly they have been helping to fund the sports rights deals through price increase in recent years.

I think this is a great move, and will probably tempt many more customers to upgrade to the full Sky Sports experience.

To cobble together a few sports programs from their main sport channels will cost sky nothing but I wonder if this "Free" channel will be part of the look what you are getting and "only increasing the entertainment package by a 2 or 3 or 4 pounds " to make your sky experience better.

If SKY give away sports to non sport subscribers and increase that subscription by a lot then the "general" sports lover might decide that the free channel is sufficient and cancel sports. This would certainly be in my mind.

I don't think so...if you are getting sports for nothing and previously didn't get any then why would you upgrade?

Well you will get a taste for the exceptional coverage and Sky will be promoting upcoming events available on the pay channels. I'm sure it'll make some realise they are missing out without a sports subscription.

The punter is paying through the nose for the battle between Sky and BT and is soon going to get very fed up with having to pay high prices twice for decent sports coverage.

There is plenty of free sport from European TV. Add a Now box for a few PAYG games and that sorts me out thank you!

Sports fans are paying a very high price indeed for what the regulators thought was encouraging increased competition. You can't blame Sky they are trying to defend their business, and they can only do that by winning the auctions. BT being allowed to give away BT Sport funded through price hikes for anyone taking their line rental (including a lot of very old people, who have no interest in sports) and other BT services has been nothing short of shameful.

This new all-access sports channel; when the next set of rises come in will Sky simply say/sugar it with "it's amazing value because those of you on an entertainment package can see some of the sport for *free*"- when, in fact, probably the majority on entertainment alone couldn't give a stuff about the sports? (If they did, they's sub, surely?)

And can those on a basic + sports package expect a *free* channel showing films?

As an original bundle subscriber with no interest in sports i will not be happy with a three pound or more month increase for this new channel i will never watch

We've only got a few more days and then we'll know for sure.

March 21st is a big day because we have an Apple media event that day with a new iPhone, iPads, MacBooks etc. in addition to possibly learning about the new prices. Let's hope news of the Sky price changes don't get lost in all the Apple noise. .

Same stuff and I reckon it's a cheaper price; OK you lose the recording facility (I've put a HD camcorder in front of the telly before now!!) but you gain in having it on up to 4 sets and there's no hassle in cancelling. The picture's pretty decent unless your nose is pressed against the screen!!

When has a programme you wanted to watch, but had to record, not been repeated several times?

Can anyone confirm which bundle SS Mix is going in?

I thought I saw a report saying it was going into the Variety Bundle.

But website article says it is in the same number of homes as SS News - and SS News is in the Original Bundle.

The Sky Sports link says that everyone is getting it:

Seems very clear to me. Hopefully someone who really does works for Sky can confirm.

I wouldn't subscribe to Sky Sports anyway, they charge too much for it, before i moved i had 2 dishes looking at 19 east and 13 east, ok they were not in English audio but i was happy to get the free sport from the Middle East, Italy and Germany.

At no extra cost.....apart from the whacking great price rise you will inflict on all your customers.

I wish people on this forum would understand that if someone works for Sky, BT or whoever and they give us a little scoop not to jump down their throats.

It's obvious when people have no responsibility or are teenagers, because they say things like "prove it". Er no, if he proves it, he loses his job. His actual job! I'm sure he has responsibilities like the rest of us!
