Sorry, long time lurker reply!

Prisoner was the best soap that Australia has produced, genuinely scary at times with some realistic characters and some seriously over the top ones. Although I watch the rebooted Wentworth Danielle Cormack is no Val Lehman as the tenacious Bea Smith! The Young Doctors also used a lot of the cast members from Prisoner if i recall correctly (I was about 10 when it was on tv lol)

Special mention to Heartbreak High, who didn't love Sam and Rivers getting together (even though she'd be arrested now!)???

S & D was great, the first soap I ever really got into.

Of course the vast majority of it was nonsense, but it was addictive nonsense with what felt like a cliffhanger at the end of every episode.

Sadly it did lose it a bit in the last year or so.

The Sullivans
*80-90s Neighbours (although the ne is also good at the moment)
80-90s Home and Away
A Country Practice

The * are my favourite ones

I watched most of them, although I wish the UK had shown Carsons Law, Punishment (male PCBH), Cop Shop and The Restless Years.”

I know Ulster TV showed Carsons Law

Number 96 (1972-1977), The Box (1974-1977), The Restless Years (1977-1981), were Australian soaps never shown in the UK. All, incidentally, were on the Ten Network - which had the most soaps, and the best soaps. (Prisoner was also on Ten.)

Number 96 and The Box started out in black and white and with gay couples, love scenes, and nudity. Storylines involved adultery, rape, abortion, along with standard soap dramas. These things, I think it is safe to say, would have prevented the programs from airing in the UK.

I'm not sure why The Restless Years never screened. It did have much more dramatic stories than The Young Doctors which screened in the UK in a daytime slot. Maybe the The Restless Years stories about prostitution, murder, blackmail, suicide, teen pregnancy, serial killers, adultery, abortion, child kidnapping made it unsuitable for a daytime slot leaving it nowhere to go in the schedules?

Speaking of Prisoner, it is The Box that probably had the most Prisoner actors in it (that is, many actors who were in Prisoner had previously been in The Box.) Both these shows were made in Melbourne (in the same studio, actually). Number 96, The Young Doctors, The Restless Years were made in Sydney.

I heard about Number 96 over the years as loads of PCBH stars were in it.
I bought several volume box sets of it - its actually really good! Gutted it never got to the UK!
I'd recommend the box sets.

Probably the other way around as The Young Doctors came before Prisoner. Once YD finished in 1983, quite a few of it's actors ended up in Prisoner during 1983 and beyond.

I've never taken an inventory but I seem to recall that of The Young Doctors main cast, many had earlier done brief bits in Number 96. This includes Diana McLean, Judy Lynne, Judy McBurney, Alfred Sandor, Chris King. Then after 96 was cancelled in mid 1977, many of its actors took guest parts in TYD. People like Abigail, Joe Hasham, Mike Ferguson, Margaret Laurence had regular roles in both. Lots of actors, especially Sydney based ones, had guest roles in both.

After TYD was cancelled in 1982, many of its actors went on to Prisoner. (Cop Shop was cancelled at the end of 1983 and actors from that show including Peter Adams, Paula Duncan, Lynda Stoner, moved on to Prisoner. All three had earlier been in The Young Doctors. Adams and Duncan had also been in 96 at the same time as each other!)

The theme song was so dreamy and soothing.

The final scene with the surprise birth of twins was one of the most perfect endings of a show ever. Talk about full circle. And then after the lovely long end credits, a simple "The end."

Yeah definitely ended perfectly and the slideshow of past members photos was also a great idea.
