Hi everyone,

I have a Panasonic TV and trying to control my newly purchased PS4 with the TV's remote control, they're both connected via HDMI.

The TV is fairly new and has Viera Link, which is enabled and it found a 'player' but it only switches on the PS4 and can't use any navigation. I've enabled PS4 HDMI setting also.

I like to watch movies on PS4 but don't want to use the control pad to navigate and also more importantly, use up all the battery of the control pad.

That is probably the limit of it's abilities. HDMI control is not really all that great to be honest. Each manufacturer seems to have invented their own variant of it that makes it difficult for different makes to properly talk to each other. Also it tends to get in the way of what you want to do and end up causing more frustration than actually helping.

In my case I have HDMI control turned off on everything because it simply does not work properly and just gets in the way all the time trying to out-think me and getting it wrong every single time!
