I have said here there is two options.

Either

Emmerdale 7:00pm-7:30pm (and catch the last half hour later)
or watch Emmerdale on record at 8:00pm and fast forward the adverts.

EastEnders will be on my TV at 7:30pm tomorrow as it always is on a Tuesday

While it will beat EastEnders it will be dented by it too. EastEnders will bring Emmerdale Average down.

That's the sort of predictions some have been making on the Ratings round up articles. They would be lucky to get 10 million let alone 40 million. I do think however they will see a rise this week though.

STV news has just said that 1000 people have signed a petition to stop the shows being aired here due to the similarity to the disaster when a helicopter crashed into the Clutha pub in Dec 2013, so I guess there's a chance STV might not show them. I have to admit, I do question the taste of these stories being so similar to real events. It will be interesting to see the responses of both STV and ITV.

I highly doubt STV will drop the episodes - and if they do, living in Scotland I'll be very annoyed!

I doubt they'll drop them too, but I get where these folk are coming from. Living quite near to Dunblane and knowing people who were involved with that incident, I hated when the relocated Waterloo Road did a gunman in the school story. They can't avoid offending people but ITV could at least acknowledge it and say that the similarities are coincidental, because it comes across like
Spoiler
the Clutha crash might have inspired the story
. I'll still watch, though Double standards ahoy

Last Monday - 6.18 + 197k (+1) = 6.377

This week - 6.29 + 119 (+1) = 6.409

30k up on last week - seems more people watched it "live" whilst less watched on +1

Last Tues - 5.75 + 143k (+1) = 5.893

Last night - 6.37 + 292k (+1) = 6.662

around 760k up on last week's episode

I had thought and hoped it would have done better than 6.4 m..but I have a feeling tonight we could see that figure rising maybe to 7.m...a shame it's only on for half an hour an hour would have been better

It's hard to predict what it will do tonight.

DS reports that it got 6.42m for the 7:30 - 8pm clash with EE - which means it rated at a lower 6.32 for it's regular slot of 7 - 7:30pm

Definitely indicating that viewers were specifically tuning in for the crash / stunt rather than the whole epsiode.

Personally - I thought the helicopter crash scenes were decidedly underwhelming, however, it did leave the viewers with a major cliff-hanger as the hall collapsed on top of everyone present.

Can the show find another half million viewers at 7pm who didn't tune in for the crash itself but will tune in for the aftermath?

The previous 2 weeks have seen decent +1 figures for the Wednesday episode (238k & 356k respectively)

If it is to reach 7m tonight - it will need to find an extra 1.1m viewers who did not tune in last week or an extra 330k who did not tune in last night.

Maybe a big ask - but not impossible.

6.4 bit low for such a big ep :|

Interesting that less than two years ago Cameron's siege week got 8million plus.

I reckon tonights Emmerdale will possibly rate a bit higher, due to not having a clash. It may just come within tipping distance of 7 million, but I will be surprised if it breaks the 7 million bracket.

It would be good news for Corrie if it does, as it will push them into the mid 7 million bracket. But at the moment, Corrie is seeing it's ratings come in and around the 6million plus mark midweek.

I don't usually watch Emmerdale but as I have seen the promotions I am watching it to see if it is any good. If others do that the ratings should be high.

Last Wed 5.51 + 356k (+1) = 5.866

Last night - 6.59 + 254k (+1) = 6.844

up 980k on last week and up 180k on Tues

With more deaths & explosions expected tonight, can it carry momentum and increase again or has it reached it's level?

Not being funny I don't watch emmerdale but even in disappointed at how little boost it has got, compare it to eastenders live week which almost doubled the figures, why do people think it never rated higher, at least they got their biggest share of the year so far but they should be expecting their highest rated episodes of the year too.

Oh btw I'm not comparing the soaps just comparing how big each of the big weeks was and how disappointing it must have been for emmerdale to not even break 7m

Last thur 7pm ep - 5.39 + 155k (+1) = 5.545

last night 7pm ep - 6.08 + 222k (+1) = 6.3

last thur 8pm ep - 5.45 + 194k (+1) = 5.644

last night 8pm ep - 6.45 + 350k (+1) = 6.8

7pm episode up 750k on last week

8pm episode up 1.1m on last week

No increase from Wednesday ep.

Personally, I thought last night's two eps were far superior to the Tues & Wed episodes

Even though they were great episodes and people enjoyed them, I feel everyone concerned will be highly disappointed by this, the only good thing about this is that when the viewing figures go back to normal they won't have lost that much.

Soaps really cannot win can they? What are they supposed to do - have disasters that are in no way ever related to real life, then cop it for being unrealistic. Or, have tragedies that have happened in the real world and be in trouble for that?

I personally think ED is way above the standard and quality of any other soap on TV currently, but they are hamstrung (especially in the South East) by being opposite EE on their hour Tuesdays. Sad, because they deserve so much better.
