To me it just seemed flat, a little bland, not quite the Emmerdale standard?

Well it is only supposed to be a build-up episode?

But as a matter of fact, I thought it set the tone for the rest of the week incredibly well.

I thought it was good.

The Ross shocks, mix of characters, the fair...all setting up nicely, while most are happy....

It wasnt any better than a usual episode of ED. Lucky that a usual episode of ED is very good then . Set up the week quite nicely but could've aired that episode last week and gone straight in with the wedding this week.

I thought it was really good (apart from Ross and his usual aggressive attitude) but I'm interested in the more minor matters such as Lawrence's medication switch - I'm wondering what'll happen there. Tomorrow and the following days will be the 'big' episodes.

Liked the combination of characters and it's the only soap where everyone knowing each other works well and realistic IMO

Emma Barton really is my new soap crush I kind of want her to make Debbie's life a misery once the affair is exposed

is there anyone else thinking that Sandy is possibly doomed when it comes to the helicopter crash, it seems by the way the character has been written the last week or two that he could be on the way out?

It seemed like a live episode, Ross and Pearl's overacting was terrible

He'll not really be missed. IMO.

Enjoyed last night's episode, thought it set up tonight perfectly......finishing with the recording of Debbie

I thought it did the job well - this episode was only ever going to be getting everything in place for what's to come and for that it worked.

What I did like was the scene with Moira and Debbie at the Hen Party - the bit about us Dingle/Bartons needing to stick together. Thought it came over really well - I just hope that they continue to develop this relationship as Moira would be a lot better Mother figure to Debbie than her own ever can be!

I quite enjoyed it! Cain wore a little cowboy hat and told Debbie what an idiot she'd been. Lawrence flashed a shoulder and shimmied. It was entertaining.

I still hate everything to do with Debbie and Ross with a mighty passion, and don't believe in one single second of their Great Love, but I'm praying we won't be subjected to much more of that wince-worthy poppycock.

Bring on the explosions, and let's see who's left ...

eta: Oh, and I thought the finger of doom was pointing at Ruby last night, and probably Sandy as well.

I thought so too.

Especially the bit about Ruby looking after Sandy while everyone else is away - made me think that something may happen to them both. Possibly something happens to Edna's house and they get trapped inside?

Ross needed a cloak, cane and top hat and he should have been twirling his long waxed mustache while going "mwahahahahahah!"

Apart from that it was spot on.

All the people who I really want to cop it this week are not going to, and some that I really don't want to ( Val, for one ) are.
So the whole thing - pyrotechnics or not - is going to leave me mightily disappointed.

Are you absolutely sure about that biscuitfactory - do you have a source?

The family tuned in last night because it's the big week, yes we thought the firsts ep was very blah! If this was the amazing ED standard what everyone on here raves about we aren't missing much then in our opinion.

It was a build up episode. After years of soaps, people should know when there is a big week in soaps, the first 2/3 episodes are normally slow and setting the scene.

I really enjoyed it but I don't think it was any different from a 'normal' ED episode. I think the big week will really kick off tonight

is there anyone else thinking that Sandy is possibly doomed when it comes to the helicopter crash, it seems by the way the character has been written the last week or two that he could be on the way out?
Spoiler

No - I think it is bubbling along nicely. Its definitely the best soap of the big 3.

No, I'm just assuming because I know the actress is leaving. Even if she doesn't bite the dust this week she's going anyway

The ones I'd really like to see the back of are all the Dingles apart from Cain, Belle and Samson ( but particularly Chas, Charity and Debbie ) Ross and Jai.

I enjoyed Ross' outburst in the pub especially when he had a go at Belle and mimicked being hit on the head with a rock
