I think shes a dreadful character and a mediocre ''villain'' and i don't know if this is intentional or not but Samantha Womack plays her as a very irritating and smug woman, never likable at the best of times. What i would really like to see is Roxy punch her lights out and send her on a one way ticket to Ibiza

I much prefer Roxy over her

Why is she so well loved?

Is she really that popular? The character is hardly ever on screen these days so I imagine it's difficult for her to maintain a strong fanbase.

I haven't liked Ronnie since about 2009, and since her 2013 return the character has become a complete joke. They wrote her into a corner with the baby swapping and murdering, and now they clearly have no idea where to go with her. Seriously, unless her baby dies and she goes on another murderous rampage there is literally nothing else Ronnie can do; she's completely exhausted as a character.

Also, nothing personal against Sam Womack but she is obviously not interested in being there any more. She's been phoning it in for the last two years.

A number of things..

Her looks
Played by a great actress
Involved in lots of tragic story lines which tug heart strings.
Her great chemistry with Rita Simmons.

I don't think she really is anymore.

Plus, Sam Womack has been really poor since she returned. She's there for the pay checks, which isn't a bad thing, but it certainly shows.

Good looks alone aren't enough to make someone a great character. I wouldn't say she's a great actress and the tragic story lines wear a bit thin. They over egged the pudding with her

I'm not seeing the 'phoning in' others have. I thought her hospital scenes with Roxie where very well acted particularly when Roxy told her she slept with Charlie. The Carl white and out of prison Kat and Alfie stuff was good she was convincing playing the cold and dark lady boss Mitchell.

She's still one of the best ee actresses only Shirley and Carol are as good or better in the most dramatic scenes

I used to be a fan of Ronnie but I'm indifferent to her now. Samantha Womack is not committed to EastEnders anymore because she keeps leaving all the time to film other projects. Samantha Womack seems to be bored of playing Ronnie now and her acting performances aren't that impressive. She is a brilliant actress but she is phoning in her performances. Also her storylines are repetitive and the character is now stale.

I have never understood it either. Sam Womack isn't that great an actress(a face full of botox means she has one facial expression whatever scene she is doing), she's not the worst(that goes to Natalie Cassidy) but she's certainly isn't one of the best (Diane Parrish is one of the best and could out act Womack without saying a word).

Ronnie is a dull boring character who goes round in circles. She should never have come back after the baby swap.

Imo, Ronnie's second stint has been a poor one. Samantha Womack's acting has been an absolute mess. She is one of the weakest actresses on the show. Even Rita Simmons is acting her off the screen most of the time which i never ever thought I would say. The first few months she was back were great. When she killed Karl, i thought we would have an interesting new path for her but sadly we haven't. Sam Womack coming and going has not helped either. Her pregnancy, her pairing with Charlie and her coma story were all poor.

I am rather impressed with how the eastenders cast is at the moment, but if I could axe anyone it would be Ronnie. She has failed to serve her purpose. I don't think she is even half as popular as she once was.

I completely agree. Both Ronnie and Roxy would be high up on my list of axings. Well past their sell-by date.

I agree with all of this. DTC should have done the decent thing and let her die on New Year's Day. This character is a spent force.

SAMs acting has always been appalling.

I don't mind this Ronnie though, she's cold and calculating and could easily develop into a serial killer, I see her a bit like Maggie Smiths character in Keeping mum. She goes around killing anyone who endangers her family.m

Never seen the appeal of Ronnie ever. Much prefer Roxy, although she annoys me at times too these days.

I think because she played very well and has been in lots of high profile storylines, I think the character has become a bit of a mess though, the writers can't seem to decided whether they want her to be a murderous villain or wholesome and family orientated which makes it very confusing. I find it strange lots of people don't pick up on this as she's often included in threads for 'best developed soap character' etc when really I'd say her development has been pretty awful as she started off as a solid character and descended into an inconsistent mess. I think the baby swap ruined her really, and now the writers don't really know what to do with her as they want the Ronnie of old back as she was such a great character but also naturally after the baby swap and everything that's happened to her it doesn't make sense for her to be like that all the time, so we get these 'Ronnie the psycopath' moments dropped in ending up with quite a bizarre mix of the two. Having said that I do still enjoy watching her and her storylines, I just appreciate that the character's a bit of a mess right now and the unfortunately the baby swap storyline has done irreversible damage on her.

I'm a Ronnie fan but I think the character isn't as good as her first stint, Her 2013 return should've just been a short stint to tie up loose ends, She never seems to appear now I wouldn't be surprised if Sam Womack quits EastEnders again, Because Samantha Womack is a good actress and has been in many things before EastEnders.

Well I love the character of Ronnie. I really like the cold, calculating side to her and like the fact that the she is unstable but also enjoy the occasional lighter side that is seen. Like when Ronnie and Roxy are good or when she first started dating Charlie.

With her screen time at the moment I think that Sam can only take so much of the blame. The block storytelling has taken every character on the show away for weeks at a time. With the actors getting paid by appearance why shouldn't they find work somewhere else if it is not available on the show.

She is seen as doing it a lot but around half the cast has taken a break, has left or been axed in recent months. The character and any potential storylines has suffered because of the lack of screen time but so have most.

The storylines she has had for the last year have also been awful. The character has no direction but that blame really falls behind the scenes. They were taking her down the villain route but that seemed to be scrapped and they made a big deal about her removing Archie's ring to have a future with Charlie and then a few months later had that end.

I don't think the character is done though more thought just needs to go into her direction then actually followed through.

Things like her finally having a child should have been a big deal considering her history however it has been hardly mentioned while an episode was focused on how Lady Di was coping with the new Carter baby. A dog got more of a story about it's feelings about a baby than a character who entire arc was focused around have a kid.

I also think Sam is incredibly capable but you can only work with what you have been given. She has big storylines one after another with Ronnie and Danielle, Ronnie v Archie and Archie's murder where she was at the forefront of the show. No matter what anyone thinks of her acting these where big, successful storylines that brought in the viewers and kept them after the stunt episodes where over. That puts her in the same category as only a handful of the other actors on the show.

I cant get over her stealing one baby and replace with a dead one. So Kat walks into a dead baby..

Not really a fan although it will be interesting with the child swapper confronting the rapist tonight...

I like Ron but her storylines have been a bit crap lately. She was at her best with Danielle/Archie. I'd like her to go full on CrazyBitch.

I'm always changing my mind about Ronnie. Sometimes I like her but there are times when I'm really fed up of her. She was a breakout character in her first stint but her second stint hasn't' been successful so far. Hopefully Sam Womack won't be taking any more breaks for a while so we can see more of Ronnie.

i think this tends to happen a lot with EastEnders. Den Watts springs to mind for one. One of the biggest soap characters of the 1980's but his return didn't seem to work out
