Story so far has been pretty gripping
So so much better than the depressing bore Emmerdale had become the past few years.

Finally some equally measured comedy spread in there which is incredibly needed and overdue.

Gripping stuff tonight. So much thrown in.

Bur that ending.. Sorry.. Over too quick, too computer generated..

Needed more of a slower crash and burn. Like thr housing collapse a few years ago

It's barely started. They'll reshow it tomorrow at the beginning of the episode and then theres the explosion, and then how that damages the funfair and causes more damage. The stunt should always be secondary to the storyline anyways, other soaps should take note

I never watch this but had it on because gf wanted to see the wedding dress (which she approved of, very mediaeval apparently).

What I want to know is - who kippers it out of this show?

Not sure if I know who they are. I remember Diane and I know who Val is and I remember Eric Pollard having another wife killed in a plane crash or something years ago.

Last time I used to "watch" it was going home when I was a student and my mum had it on. Frank Tate, Chris Tate, and the Sugdens were in it - and Amos.

No one knows yet who dies.. I don't think they do anyway
I wouldn't want to know
But it's an almost 'dead'cert it'll be Val. Poetic with faking her death and Eric's other wife dying this way

Also yeah it's not about the explosion I know that but it's just how it's been built up to be something bigger than we have EVER witnessed.. Just.. Needed to be slower.
Felt so rushed

I thought it was brilliant, the way it all built up. I didn't think that recording would be played though!

No not to me
House collapse had the feeling watching it unveil. Bit by bit, the fall, the gradual destruction and look of absolute stunned abandoned emotion on everyone's face.

The whole confusion of how can this be happening before our eyes when it was all fine a minute ago..
And what will always stay with me is the complete silence. After it fell, every single person just stared blankly on 100% disbelief. Not actually seen anything as powerful as that from an onscreen 'disaster'

You could tell the helicopter and its black smoke had been added on top

It was embarrassing. The build up was crap. Everything had been revealed. The episode was boring about from the 20 seconds at the end. I just hope the aftermath is good.

Diane & Val are probably goners.

I'm expecting Finn, Joanie and possibly Val to die. Tbh I also see Ross being murdered by Pete as apparently someone hides a body.

I just watched it on the DS soap page thing, I thought it was done ok, way better then that tram crash in that other soap that is 1000 years old.

I don't watch ED, but as stunts go, I thought that was good, soaps are not Hollywood movies.

I think it was a great spectacle - anyone who thinks a soap can do better than that/the tram crash etc needs to have a hard think.

The drama was palpable though - I was genuinely wide eyed for the last 5 minutes.

Obviously it's just the beginning - tomorrow and Thursday will be mind-blowing I bet you!

Laughable how everyone is judging the storyline before it's even had a chance to get going.... That crash was just the start, Maybe wait til the end of the week to pass judgement on it??

Oh and FYI, This is an evening soap with a limited budget on stunts. It was never going to be "Hollywood style" and as for those laughing at the CGI/... what do you want? A real helicopter??

Yes it could have been done better, but fact is ED don't have the funding to be able to make it look like something out of a Bond film.

Same.

People are forgetting we have at least 2 if not 3 more episodes of complete carnage to come - I think people who are saying it's a poor stunt will probably eat their words after that (if they're not too stubborn to do so!)

I'm only watching Emmerdale regularly because I enjoy Michael Parr's performances so i was a bit disappointed that tonight Ross was unconcious for the second half. Still it's just the begining.

I'm not judging the story at all.
I have referenced how I have enjoyed the story so far.
This is purely referring to the 'biggest stunt in soap'
