Im looking for some advise after moving home and contacting bt about my move.

They told me im moving from an area that has superfast broadband to an area that does not, but they said I will still be able to get anything from 1 - 3.5mb.

I also had bt tv before the move and was told that their tv system would not work unless it detects a min of 4mbs.

They said I would be able to cancel the tv service but not the broadband contract.

Now after moving im getting no more than 0.5mbs.

After many phone calls and line tests and being told to wait 72 hours for the 3rd time as the exchange is trying to search for a more stable line, I feel like its a dead loss and they are just fobbing me off.

Any advise please??

Put your telephone number into this checker

https://www.btwholesale.com/includes...cs_adslchecker

This will tell you what broadband services are available and what BT should be able to provide including an estimate for your line speed.

What speed did BT quote to you when the order was placed? ( This will be in your order confirmation email)

If your getting significantly lower than the estimate on a wired connection (not wireless) and you have given BT a chance to resolve and they are unable to get you the speed promised then you can cancel without charges.

Be aware though that if 0.5 meg is the max your line can handle then switching ISP is unlikely to change this.
