Fair enough if people thought Emmerdale was weak tonight but I seem to find that everyone just wants to slag off for slagging off reasons. People were saying that it was over too quick, had the crash dragged out they would be moaning too. Every single thing that people on here can moan about, they do so.

Lighten up and enjoy the programme!

The forum does seem to become incredibly negative sometimes, which can be pretty frustrating. I hold back from posting anymore unless it's something I feel genuinely strongly about.

Then again, they say you can't please all the people all the time......

I tend to agree. However it's usually the repetitive nature of the negative/cliched comments that's annoying.

True, I do think people like to moan.

This. Place would be a lot more boring if all the comments were positive

I agree and there are certain actors that get slagged off no matter what they do.

But they say negativity breeds negativity

agree that it is very frustrating at times

So opinions aren't allowed unless you agree?

Yes, a helluva lot of them seem to live for it unfortunately.

Hey ho, such is life.

I disagree

No of course not. However I think many of the negative comments are quite unoriginal in their content so they just strike me as moaning for the sake of it.

If people offer genuine reasons they didn't enjoy it then fair enough but the comments here are the usual stuff such as "that was so fake or too much filler" etc.

Partizan opinions are just as tedious imo

I don't disagree with diverse opinions, but sometimes the they are baseless and ridiculously contrived & as others have said tend to be incredibly repetitive.

The DTC yawnfest has caused me to avoid all EE threads for the last few months.

I think people on here take soaps more seriously than the average viewer but I don't think they're any more unfair in their opinions. Furthermore, just because ratings and/or award ceremonies may go against the grain of the majority opinion on here doesn't mean we're all socially-awkward, reclusive trolls.

As for the repetitive comments, well if the thing DS members are moaning about hasn't changed/been fixed, why would they stop? I think DTC is a rubbish EP in general but he hasn't left yet, so I'm not going to stop airing my views about him.

Not everyone - I said how much I enjoyed it.

I understand there are bad points about everything and of course everyone deserves there own opinion however some people just seem to be out to moan and find fault with things and it sometimes seems unfair when it was obvious how much thought, imagination, execution and effort went into that episode of Emmerdale.

I wasn't looking to complain about anything, I expected it to be great tonight. It wasn't. What am I meant to do, lie?
It's all very well saying just enjoy it, but if there isn't much to enjoy that's not going to magically happen just because you've said it should.

Agree with that bit, definitely. You can see how much has been put into it. OK, not everything works. Maybe the CGI was a bit dodgy. But it does make me sigh to come on here and find people just saying it was all crap, end of story.

A lot of it was classic Emmerdale - the Val/Diane conversation, Cain dealing with Ross, the family stuff at the reception. You needed to know who the characters were to enjoy it. If you don't want to watch it, and just want amazing CGI, jeez, just go and watch Ant Man or SuperMan or Crap Man or whatever the latest Hollywood bilge is.

But hey, that's the nature of the beast. People on t'internet like to knock things down.

I feel like people choose to focus on the bad rather than focus on the good. They like to moan about the bad (no matter how little) rather than praise the good and focus on that. Even if an episode was amazing there will be plenty of posts moaning about some mistake or something they didn't like rather than making a post on what they actually liked. I guess it's just how a lot of people's mindsets work nowadays. Like you see that a lot not just on here but everywhere and in overall life too. A lot of people just choose to moan and slag things off rather than talk about the good.

I just left a fairly negative review on something I purchased from Amazon. Should I have lied and said how great it was and kept my negative opinion to myself? Should I have made less of my negative points because some of it was good. Because that is what you are suggesting OP. People rave about certain things which others find tedious and dull. Right now I am finding Eastenders dull, I can't for the life of me see the attraction of Ross in Emmerdale but others seem to. People have different opinions it doesn't mean that they are moaning for the sake of moaning.

The thing is I feel a lot of people tend to focus and talk about the bad even when there's good too. There's a big difference on 1) focusing on both sides and talking about positive and negative and 2) only moaning and making a post about the bad but never praising them on the good. Some people seem to disregard the good and only choose to talk about the bad. Raving about something even when something is worth raving about is more rare on this forum than moaning about something. Why do so many people jump to make a post moaning about something (no matter how small) so easily but hesitate to give credit when credit is due?

This doesn't apply to everyone but I've seen a lot of people who be the first to make a post to have a moan at something but never make a post praising something even when it's obvious that it's well deserved. It's like they just choose to have a moan all the time rather than praising the good too. I don't mind people not liking something but if an episode is overall good then I don't understand why some people choose to focus on that one bad thing that might have happened rather than giving praise and appreciation for the good parts.

Yes. However it's usually poor old Eastenders & Hollyoaks who cop it the most around here. Nice to see it be someone else for once

Emphasis on the word repetitive. Folks love / hate or for those with pespective in their lives like / dislike certain characters and storylines. Discussing why they like or dislike is the stuff of forums. It's when it gets into love (fandom of certain characters) or hate (obsessional negativity when they appear on screen) that it gets out of kilter. You get the same folks creating threads and/or posting the same thing over and over again. It encroaches on obsession which isn't good for anyone. Including those who get fed up with DS and leave. Enjoyment of light hearted chat about a silly soap is lost.
