Been pushed back from Hometime Show to 6pm, just so the station can continue their 'no repeat' thing for drive time.

I miss listening to Geoff and Annabel on my journey home - if I wanted to listen to music, I'd listen to my own. Will now have to listen to the podcast, which will miss out parts of the show. Shame, it's the only show on Absolute I listen to.

Hope the station isn't getting ready to push Geoff out (especially not if they keep bloody Christian O'Connell, the Alan Partridge of national radio!).

You could record the show using Audacity

It's a bit of a shame to not have them on the 5pm hour, but I'm not sure why you think the podcast will miss out on anything? The podcast has some extras, and the only thing edited out is the music and adverts. I think the only bit of talk you miss is introducing record of the week, but even the new 'Beatles Bite' is there, without the track being played of course.

Does anyone actually have a good thing to say about Christian O'Connell. Absolute never stop plugging him but quite frankly like many others on here I don't like him at all.

I have always enjoyed Geoffs podcasts but so far with the new time the show seems a bit over the place. Hopefully it will settle down as the weeks go by.

I get the impression Geoff isn't too happy with the changes going on at Absolute, he even hinted on the podcast this might be his last show there.

This also doesn't suit my listening schedule so i'm now podcast only.

Whenever I listened live to his other show, when I occasionally listened to it again on the podcast, there was quite a bit missing. I assumed this would be the case with the new show.

He's a knob, can't stand the fella!

What did he say?

Might he be snapped up by the supposed 'new XFM'? A good fit for a personality-led blokey station. If this were the case, you could understand Bauer wanting to reduce his profile before any defection.

<snip>
I'm not sure how much of that is Geoff's self doubt and putting himself down.

I've only heard a couple of podcasts this week but as well as hinting at that he also said he would be happy moving back to the late night slot but it doesn't suit Annabel.

He has also said he is contracted until the year he can say comfortably say he is in his mid 40s. Although he is 43 next year so it could be then depending on his definition!

Good to hear the podcast extra bits make a return this week.

I don't think Geoff meant he would get the boot, rather that he had been through the whole Absolute schedule bar the graveyard shift and that it might be time for a new challenge.

Did the 'all star postbag' feature this week? That was one of my favourite bits of the show.

Friday only now! This show will be just as good as Hometime & The Geoff Show was. We're talking about two people who are excellent at what they do!

I know we're all entitled to our opinion, and that taste is very subjective, but how??!

All Star Postbag was my favourite feature, along with Feed the Trolls, a real shame that one is scrapped and the other is only one day a week. A mistake IMO. I'm not keen on the What Does Annabel Think feature either.

I loved "Feed the Trolls" but think it maybe it ended about the right time - as it could have run out of steam. Also on a couple I heard Annabel mentioned someone in the comments had rumbled it was her - and that was before broadcast!

I think the time move was a 'wipe the board 'almost' clean kind of thing... I bloody loved the I'm from Barcelona intro and hobo outro but time moves on... I agree he has given the impression over the last month or so as if it's a 'sinking ship' but Geoff is very self deprecating, the 'new' show will develop itself... Annabel investigates isn't far off what she did before 'feed the trolls'... I like the potential of the 'wonderland' section of the show... I have to admit i've had a grin on my face on Friday when I hear the now once a week "typewriter, dip, dip, dip" tune for Annabel's postbag!

That tells me nothing, I tried to listen to his show but it's just like Partridge on North Norfolk Digital.

I can't believe I've heard that music 100s of times and had never identified that word. Always assumed it was a foreign language! I'm From Barcelona theme dates from the 10pm show days, and it's funny how quickly you get used to new music/features etc.

The return of a podcast intro and podications is very welcome too.

Got very confused driving home today at about 5:45pm today they played the Absolute Radio with Geoff and Ababel jingle between 2 songs so thought they maybe started earlier on a Friday then the new girl (Dani?) came on after the 2nd song with some Q music news, very confusing.

Really don't see what she adds for drive home Geoff far more entertaining now Absolute is mono only in car they should focus on speech, if I want more guitar/indie music I'll stick XFM as that's stereo so sounds better for music.

Could Geoff return to the new Virgin Radio?
Oh how I would love to see the return of Pete and Geoff to do the breakfast show there!

Me too. I can't see it happening but you never know. It seems Pete has left Absolute altogether now.

Btw, is Geoff on holiday this week? I noticed Pete Donaldson is filling in but they didn't say he was 'in for Geoff'

I've never understood the appeal of "The OC" since he took over the breakfast show. His air of superiority over sidekick Richie (which Andy Bush gladly rips off at the weekend with his 'producer' Brian) makes him unlikeable, and I'm fairly sure that the 'laughter' at his jolly japes in a morning must be 'canned' as it sounds the same every time.

When Absolute changed over from it's previous identity, the bosses said that one of the main things they wanted to move away from was that V*rgin was seen as "white-van-man" radio, especially with the breakfast show, but with his matey persona, and constant ad's for vans, builders merchants etc, I'd say it's moved totally the other way.

Then why not turn it off??

Well, the 3 songs he does manage to squeeze into every half hour, when he finally shuts up, are usually cracking. One thing that Absolute have always had going for them is the playlist.

Back on topic, I miss Geoff now as, leaving work at 5.30, I'm home before he starts
