In response to both posts, I know not many of us like Ali, but I still never really made sense of Ruby's relationship with Ali. They have such different temperament and attitudes to people. And yes, by that I do mean that Ruby is better on both counts.

It is indeed rare for anyone not to have affairs. This may be why some people mistakenly considered Ruby boring.

It was tender having Ruby share her thoughts such as her devastation at how Ali was likely to feel. This was so much more poignant than sudden death. Ruby has now joined the ranks of Emmerdale legends.
